We stayed in the Shepherd’s Hut and really enjoyed the privacy and facilities. We had everything we needed for a short stay. The outside area was also lovely and would be even better in the summer time when it would be possible to make use of the seating and BBQ.

The breakfast was very good with a wide selection of choices, although fresh fruit was not on offer. The location was ideal for exploring the nearby countryside. There are several eating places within easy reach by car and the nearby Thai restaurant is a short walk away.

The hotel is a quintessential old English Hotel. It is in a beautiful country setting and is a stunning building. The food was delicious, the staff friendly and the decorating tasteful and pretty.

The buildings are welcoming and very well-maintained. The staff is friendly and efficient. Our room was clean and very nicely decorated plus we had a gorgeous panoramic view of the South Downs elevation. We could not have found a finer place to begin our holiday. Its unspoilt bar features ships beams, wooden and slate floors, stone walls and 3 fireplaces, one of which is used to spit-roast joints of meat. Guests also benefit from free on-site parking.

There are 2 guest rooms in the Station House, the other 8 are in fully-restored Edwardian Pullman railway carriages. The whole station has been converted into an unusual and elegant hotel with free Wi-Fi throughout.
