Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

IrelandA nice peaceful stay with a lovely family. The host was helpful with explaining how to get there from HCM city. Dinner was prepared upon arrival which was delicious. We we able to book activities, all at reasonable prices. The boat tour was very nice, cycling around an binh was fun as the local children joined us. We did a cooking class and prepared ourselves a delicious lunch. Overall, a very nice place to visit away from the big city.

GermanyThe bungalow was quite dark and the window and door were not tight, so we had mosquitoes in the room and no mosquito net over the bed. We also had a noisy animal on the roof, so unfortunately we didn't get much sleep.
The family was very nice! We left one night early as we had a very noisy animal on the roof so we couldn't sleep that night. However, we got a discount for the second night - thanks again! :) The dinner was very plentiful and really tasty, we can highly recommend it. The boat tour was also nice, we visited many local productions.

United KingdomHard mattress (standard and now used to this in Vietnam). Dinner was a little on the pricier side that we hadn't factored in when bringing cash to the island, but delicious so glad we ate here.
We wanted to get away from the crowds and experience the local Mekong and this was exactly that. We arranged a pick up from Can Tho with the host which worked very well. Loved using the hammocks and the free bikes. Water pressure was excellent for the showers and rooms had nets which we used. The food was the highlight for us here, amazing cooking and made us try dishes we may not have chosen ourselves, delicious.

GermanyThe bathroom was poorly equipped, no soap or toothbrush like in all the other home stays I've been and the sink and toilet leaked and caused an always wet floor. The garden was once started nicely but it lacked some blooming flowers like all the neighbours have, so it looked a bit sad. At night there were loud animals fighting on the roof and in the bathroom. Around the house were a lot of parties going on in the nearby community houses, so it was rather noisy. All in all you can do with all that, but it was not at all "fabulous".
I'm sorry to say it, but I really expected something else after all the fantastic reviews. Yes, a nice family - like all the families in the home stays we've been to. Not very communicative or caring. If you need something, you have to find someone and ask for it. Then they make sure you get it. Although everything kind of worked of and we even had AC in the private bungalow (which worked good!) , I would not describe the home stay as "fabulous". No soap, no shampoo, no toothbrush, only one towel per person and no change of towels unless you ask for it. No fridge, no kettle, no possibility to make your own tea or a small snack. Bathroom almost outside (although brick built and walled), leaky sink and toilet, very basic shower, bathroom and toilet floor always wet. Sewerage goes straight out into the garden. Only one mosquito net for two beds. No free water bottles (e.g. for brushing teeth) as in other places. But a welcome drink in the form of a coconut. That was nice. The free bicycles are in rather poor condition. We ended up renting them from another accommodation. The garden looks a bit sad compared to the blooming paradises around the corner. The first night it was rather quiet, but the following 3 nights AND in the morning there was always party music somewhere. often it came from 3 directions with different music and one louder than the other. After 2 days I got used to the low standard and felt quite okay. The sisters are nice (when you see them), as is the welcome (when I finally found someone to talk to and ask my questions about how everything works and where to find things - then finally we had a nice chat). In other accommodations we've been to, they've taken care of the guests, had suggestions for excursions and tips to give. Here you have to ask for everything. The door between the bathroom and the bedroom in the bungalow has to be closed very carefully at night so that the rats can't get into the bedroom.

GermanyWe chose this homestay because of the good reviews across platforms. We were looking forward to an authentic home-stay experience at the end of our Vietnam trip. However, the first contact with the hostess was disappointing..already the inquiry via WhatsApp, about which bus connections we get the easiest to the homestay was answered quite annoyed. We arrived at the ferry to the island and after a few minutes of walking towards the Homestay we have been instructed by the hostess, which came towards us on a scooter, with the words: "I'm from the Homestay, we will do it one by one" to climb on the scooter to be transported one after the other to the Homestay. Once there, we were told to "follow" and "this is your bungalow"... without another word we were left there standing. We swallowed that at first and thought maybe she had a bad day or just doesn't speak English well (although at least a Hello, here on the island the friendliest little kids keep shouting from everywhere). Over our whole trip we tried to be really open, honest and heartwarming to the people in Vietnam, and that always worked out great, until we met this hostess. After unpacking we asked for a vegetarian dinner and were looked at as if we had personally offended/insulted her. We experienced the same the next morning when we asked for milk for coffee at breakfast. All in all, we experienced the hostess as hostile towards us and this hostility ruined our stay in this actually beautifully located homestay. Sometimes she was quite friendly or ,,normal“ but most of the times we asked her anything she seemed annoyed by us and gave us the feeling of not being welcome here right now. However, one has to differentiate with the husband. We strongly suspect that he is the reason for the multiple positive reviews of this homestay. If we only had contact with him, we probably would have given the same 5-star rating.
