Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

PhilippinesThe staff was the friendliest staff in all the hotels I visited in Vietnam! They also had a good command of English, so it was easy to converse with them. They gave good tips as well and looked out for me when I was getting Grab motorbikes. It’s a very comfortable place to stay, especially for solo travelers.

The staff is easy to reach and replies promptly. Upon arrival, we were assisted for early check in. There is a 1 minute walk along a narrow alley but it's fine and is not a major deterrent. The location is also great, just walking distance to the main areas of Old Quarter. The room is spacious, clean and comfortable. We chose a family suite with balcony overlooking the train. It was a really great experience. We were not bothered at all by the noise from the train since the soundproofing is excellent. The mattress and pillows are comfortable. Our room is tidied every day as well and our belongings are kept safe. We liked that they also offer luggage storage for those who have to leave for short trips to Sapa or Halong Bay. The staff is very friendly and helpful. All of them gave excellent service but we notably interacted more with Ms. Elena who assisted us with our needs. Will definitely be back. Our stay here made our vacation more memorable.

United KingdomThe water pressure was a little low in the shower, but it was manageable and we had hot water so was fine!
We had a room on the 6th floor which was lovely! The wall was painted beautifully and we had everything we needed. The view from the balcony over the train tracks was great. The sound of the trains didn't disturb us either. The bed was huge and really comfortable and the room was very spacious and clean. The location was great - easy access to everything in the old town but on a quiet side street. It's worth bearing in mind that the hotel is down a back street within a market but we had the hotel's airport taxi which was great and the hotel staff came to meet us and offered to help us with luggage. It felt safe in the area too when walking back at night. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful and went out of their way to assist us (e.g checking Cat Ba transport for us). They were brilliant! Would definitely recommend this hotel for a quieter stay outside the chaos of the tourist hotspots with easy access to everything you need in the old town.

DenmarkThe hotel is located next to a train station, which is nice because you don’t get all the noise and pollution from Hanoi’s busy scooter traffic. However, there’s announcements in the speakers and they start with a sound which almost resembles a video game. Only in the morning though, not during the night! Takes some getting used to if you like sleeping in like us.
The staff were super attentive and sweet, always smiling and ready to help. Big room with comfortable beds, a tv, a desk with a mirror (excellent for putting on makeup) and a huge closet, as well as a private toilet and shower. The room had plenty of space for 3 girls and all of our belongings. Nice little terrace. All this for a super affordable price. Also, the hotel offers tours, and we went to Lan Ha Bay, Ninh Binh and Ha Giang Loop. Great experiences, and smooth sailing from the get-go because of the attentive staff. When we almost missed the bus, they made sure to arrange a taxi (for free!), so we could get on at another stop. And when one of us forgot a bag on one of the busses, they managed to track it down and get it back. Thank you so much to all of the staff, we hope to come back one day!

United KingdomWouldn’t be too comfortable if I was on my own as the hotel is down a dark alley. Air con wasn’t that cold and was more of a fan. Had a sewage smell from the toilet but was reimbursed upon leaving. Didn’t have a view of the railway and was expecting a bit more considering the price.

AustraliaMini fridge temperatures in hotels in Vietnam are barely cooler than room temperature, we are aware of this so it is not a criticism of the hotel, but just be aware you won’t be able to cool your drinks.
The best part of La Cascada was the wonderful staff, especially Roxanne who we saw most often. They were all eager to offer help and advice to ensure we had the best possible visit to Hanoi. We used the hotel as a home base while we did side tours to Lan Ha bay and Tam Coc, so we had three separate stays. They arranged transport to and from Tam Coc via limousine van which helped to make our travel stress free. They stored our luggage for us while we went elsewhere and on our final stay upgraded us to a balcony room as they knew how much we loved the balcony room during our first stay. If you are a train enthusiast the balcony rooms are highly recommended as you can watch the trains leave and arrive at the station which is just a bit along from the hotel. No need to visit Train Street if you stay here, it is outside your window (just not at quite such close quarters). We filled in the feedback form after our second stay and I mentioned having more than one pillow each would be handy (easier when you are sitting using the bed like a couch), lo and behold when we checked into the room on our third stay there were four pillows waiting for us! The hotel location is great for wandering around the Old Quarter and is about a 15 minute stroll from Hoan Kiem lake. If we are lucky enough to return to Hanoi we will certainly stay at La Cascada again.
