62-yr-old female solo traveler here. This hotel was a delight! Gorgeous old place, I loved the antique elevator. You can't beat the location. The room was simply charming, right down to the fresh flower in the vase. The staff even gave me access to the rooftop so I could stargaze.

A very cozy hotel with antique furniture. Slightly worn, but that makes it even more romantic and fitting with the city's atmosphere. Located in the center, within walking distance of major tourist attractions. Extremely helpful staff.

The hotel was downtown, close to tourist sights. Lots of people walking in the evening. So, it is a safe place to walk in evening. Although I only walked until 11:00pm. Always the odd homeless person anywhere downtown. It is a good hotel, but if you stay on weekends, there will be noise from bars close by. The staff were friendly and helpful.

Breakfast is just coffee and a few cakes so it's more of a light snack than a meal.

A really charming characterful old hotel in the heart of the city and in a quiet side street. My room was on the top floor and was a lovely surprise being bright and airy and having a delightful roof terrace with a partial view of the cathedral. The room was very clean and comfortable with a nice bathroom and shower. It had very high ceilings which showed some paintwork issues but this was easily overlooked for the charm of the place. The receptionists were very pleasant and smiley, and although they didn't speak English my basic Spanish got me through. I only stayed one night but I was very pleased with my choice and had a very pleasant sleep and stay. And the room was great value too.

Friendly, location; however, it would be bad on a Sunday. Everything in the old town is closed, even Starbucks; however if you were to go on a day trip or uber somewhere else in the city it would be fine.

The location of the hotel, I mean is very close to tourist attractions and important places but there are a lot of homeless people around, I do not recommend walking around at night.

For those who like the style of old European cities, which Montevideo’s Ciudad Vieja itself is much alike, the Hotel Palácio embodies this very own concept all over. It was a great experience, from the old style elevator to the furniture and decoration of the whole building. For me, it was part of the experience of being in Montevideo. Furthermore, the room service is very nice, they changed towels and soap everyday, and the team was always there to help me find my way around the city. The location is another great factor, as I could reach some really important spots of the Oldtown by walking only a few meters, like Plaza Independenzia, the City Gate and the Teatro Solís. Totally recommend it to those who don’t mind a bit old style furniture and some cracks on the walls — for me, it was part of the Uruguayan charm.

Excellent location in this nicely maintained heritage building. Many restaurants and coffee shops nearby. Very friendly staff…Google Translate came in very handy as limited English. Although there is no option for breakfast they had nice coffee and croissants available if you wanted.
