Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

NetherlandsSome parts of the floor, furniture and fixtures start to show signs of wear, to be updated.
The location of this hotel is very good. It offers spacious and rather modern rooms for Uruguay standards. The breakfast is great, one of the best, and I liked the rooftop area. Staff was friendly.

CanadaThe mattress was old and too soft so very uncomfortable. The shower only had a 1/2 door so water got all over the floor.
Good location. Old building with lots of character. Great breakfast buffet

United StatesThe only thing I didn't care for was the wi-fi. It worked OK as far as signal strength and speed, but kept logging me off every few hours and my devices were warning me of "security certificate" issues and giving me the option to "go back to safety." I'm not a tech guy, but the upshot was my devices were warning me the hotel's internet wasn't as secure as they would have liked. This made me reluctant to perform sensitive tasks online and I had to switch to the local 4g network which at least wasn't freaking out my phone. The only other negative- the lemonade at the breakfast buffet was horrid. Served totally unsweetened. Maybe it's just not my thing.
Great location, two blocks from Plaza Independencia and the Old City. Front desk staff and even some of the maids speak passable English. Comfortable bed, safe in room. It's quiet at night. Very nice breakfast buffet on the 6th floor, including access to the terrace which has a nice view of the city. Slept in late one morning after an exhausting previous day with the "Do not disturb" sign on the door, and when I came to around 2 p.m. the maids were still willing and able to clean my room. Excellent value - I was there in the low season.

New ZealandWifi was patchy. The area immediately around the hotel is not the best but I stayed here five nights and never had any problems.
Lovely historic hotel, thoroughly updated. Comfortable, secure, spacious room, pleasant staff. Excellent buffet breakfast in a lovely rooftop space with two terraces. Very close to the main avenue, plaza, old city and the sea. There is also an indoor pool, sauna and small gym. I would stay there again.

United KingdomI was satisfied with most things during my stay.
Great hotel, close to the Independence Square. Very comfortable bed (reasonably firm), clean, and helpful staff. Great breakfast on the top floor with potential to sit outside on the rooftop terrace. I liked being able to borrow a (fairly basic) bike for a few hours and also I liked the pool and spa area. Wifi was also good with good coverage.

United StatesThis would’ve been a really nice property when it was first built, but it’s obvious time didn’t do it well. Breakfast is subpar.
Close to the ferry port and all the attractions you’d want to go to. Beds were comfortable (a full bed is two twins pushed together though), rooms are big. Staff is helpful.

SerbiaThe hotel offers fantastic value for money – affordable rates without compromising on comfort. The rooms were cozy and well-kept, with a comfortable bed that ensured a good night's sleep. Cleanliness was top-notch, adding to the positive impression. One of the highlights was the breakfast – a diverse and delicious spread that catered to various tastes. The central location of the hotel also made exploring Montevideo convenient. In summary, Wyndham Montevideo Cervantes is a great choice for those looking for a budget-friendly yet comfortable stay with a tasty breakfast. I highly recommend it for a hassle-free and enjoyable visit to Montevideo.
