Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesThe lighting in our room was not great. There were four of us ladies getting ready and we never found the right light, very dim, even in the bathroom. Bring a lighted mirror or ring light. Elevators are slow and small.
The location was perfect, we were able to pretty much walk where we wanted, Radio City Music Hall, Time Square, 5th Ave, Rockefeller, Broadway. Easy to pick up the subway for JFK, 9/11 Museum and Statue of Liberty. Beautiful hotel, safe location.

Netherlands- The hotel is old, which gives it a nice charm, but you can see too much wear and tear for it to be considered a 4-star. - The towels and overall amenities look and feel cheap. - The fact that they charge you 2$ per bag to hold your luggage after checkout is (to me) unheard of and rather disappointing. - Some of the staff, especially the person who checked us in were quite unfriendly and uninterested. - If this hotel was located anywhere else, a 400$+/night rate would be completely ridiculous seen its state. But it’s Manhattan so I guess that’s acceptable there. - The elevators are very busy during peak hours; they are slow and small so if you’re rushing, plan 5-10 extra minutes of waiting time. - Ask for a room as far away as possible from the basement: NYC + old building = potential unexpected visitors climbing up the water pipes.
The location was very fitting for our purposes and I believe it would be also for someone visiting Manhattan for the first time. The room was large by NYC standards and the bed comfortable.

AustraliaAs a family we wanted a separate living room and bedroom and the suite we had was perfect . Really spacious with a large sofa, comfy chairs and also a dining table - ideal for our family of four. Only one bathroom but this worked out fine. We found the location to be perfect for our needs , close to Central Park and also to places like the Rockefeller centre, subways and restaurants. Easy to get to downtown. Only negative is that the rooms are a bit on the dark side but I guess a lot of NY rooms would be because the light is cut by nearby buildings.

United KingdomNo room service or on-site restaurant - other than breakfast service. Bar did not open until 5pm daily so nowhere within hotel to get any refreshments during the day. No water machine in reception area or the lobby on 2nd floor. Cheap paper in the bathroom.
Great location, with friendly and welcoming staff. Hotel had a very pleasant ambience and decor. Comfortable beds with quality linen and towels. Felt a safe environment for female travellers. I first visited several years ago but feel the hotel doesn't offer as much as it used to. Facilities somewhat lacking for a 4* hotel.

United StatesI’ve stayed here many times and if you try to check in one minute before 3:00pm they will try to give you a less desirable version of the room you booked.

CanadaI asked for a quiet room so was placed at the back of the hotel, on the positive it was very quiet, no street noise, on the downside the room was very dark...it was a trade off, I was happy with my choice and slept well each night. The light switches beside the bed that controlled all the lights in the room didn't work. The coffee station did not offer tea, only coffee with powdered creamer, paper cups vs. ceramic mugs. The body lotion was thin and not a quality product. These are minor issues, overall I had a very good stay at the hotel and would stay there again.
The location is very good, close to the park, shopping, theatres, restaurants and easy to get to via taxi or metro. I requested a quiet room and was pleased with what I was given, it was at the back of the hotel with no traffic noise. The bed was comfy and housekeeping was good.
