Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United Statesthe rooms are basically smallish rectangles with translucent glass dividers for the shower stall and toilet. Maybe it is just me, but I’m not a big fan of the fake wood floors we encounter just about everywhere these days. Yotel doesn’t believe in room decorations. The entirely white walls without any prints or other art, the giant (but not great resolution) TV surrounded by lights you can use to change colors and intensity and the translucent glass dividers made me feel like I was staying in a Star Trek spaceship cabin, not a DC hotel! Back to the TV- one advantage of a lot of Air B&B and other apartments I’ve stayed in is that they often provide a Roku so one can summon up one’s own streaming accounts. The YOTEL just has cable for that giant screen.
The location was perfect for my one night/one day business trip to DC; I had to be on Capitol Hill. The electric bed which went from a comfy tv-watching sofa to a full-length king was fun, and I slept well. The automatic check-in/check-out procedure was great- quick, no waiting for a front desk person, and easy to do. Although there aren’t coffee makers in the rooms, each floor has a surprisingly good automatic coffee machine by the elevators.

United StatesThe parking situation. After paying for the room and everything else, parking should be allowed for hotel guests without paying a ridiculous amount per night.

United StatesSome of the staff was kinda rude. There was a female front desk agent who was bossing another agent around. I think he was in training and she was talking to him like a child. I wish she was kinder when showing the person how to do things - we need more of that in today's world.
Clean, some of the staff was really nice. I love staying there because of how nice the facilities are!!! I wish they had free early check in or late check out if they have the rooms. I've never seen a hotel that charges for those. The rooms are always very nice and some of my favorite beds (I travel a lot). The beds are comfy and the housekeeping service is great. Love the little touches around the room. Great location by Capitol and Union station.

United StatesIt could be noisy in the corridor by the exit stair, probably because there were two school groups.
Large room, comfortable beds . Cool features like different types of lightning in room. Fun vibes. There's complimentary coffee and hydration station on every floor. Good location.

United StatesThe lighting in the room was weird and seamed to dark we couldn’t figure how to turn the hallway one either. Really sad the pool was cold, needs a warmer in that. Also what hotel has a pool but no hot tub, that was a disapointment.
The room was pretty, love how the bed reclined, staff was excellent, very clean. Rooftop bar was wonderful. Love love the complimentary coffee, probably our favorite thing since we are coffee lovers.

SpainThe check in the hotel is a total mess. They have some machines to do the check in where you have to put your credit card and leave a deposit. We tried a couple of times until the machine told us to contact the receptionist. After that We had 2 deposits charged into our bank which we had to wait several days to get back.
The hotel has an exellent location and the room is confortable. It also has a small fridge so you can store drinks and food during your stay.

United KingdomRooftop pool didn’t open till 9am so not possible to swim before work, nor at sunset. This was disappointing.
Everything was great- clean, well designed simple rooms, lovely rooftop pool, friendly staff, fast elevators, comfy beds and great shower. Great selection of restaurants about 10-15 mins walk away, especially Oyamel, a wonderful Mexican place. There’s also a few restaurants that were closer by.

United Statesyou can hear clearly through the walls to other rooms without trying or wanting to hear. kiosk to check in and out is irritating especially when there are one to two employees standing at the desk doing nothing. The small stairwell to the pool is irritating. The air and heat was set to auto and could not be adjusted to what you wanted which means you cannot make your room as comfortable as you want. I dont want the heat cutting on just because i up the temp by two degrees because im a little colder than i want to be. Seems to be more of a party atmosphere for a supposed 4 star hotel. Absolutely ridiculous that you are charged a fee and a huge fee at that, for checking in early. The rooms were clean and guest could go ahead and check in but we had to sit and wait in the lobby for an hr to check in without being charged a huge early check-in fee.
cleanliness and style are great! love the adjustable bed, super comfy. Especially love the light settings.

PortugalI didn't like the warm welcome from the staff upon arrival, much less the way the check-in was done. I didn't like the bathroom in the room, I even believe I stayed in a smaller room than the one I booked. I didn't like the breakfast because it was included in the stay package (the highest value on the menu) and it was always the same option without being able to change it.
I liked the location of the hotel. I liked the proximity to the metro station.
