Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesWell, the 5:30 AM emergency alert malfunction wasn't great, but I'm sure that's not something you plan to institute.
Breakfast was particularly fun and pleasant. I'm so sorry I didn't get our server's name; she was thoughtful and alert but certainly not obtrusive.

United StatesThe beds were a tad small for two people- two older kids and two adults.
The room was great. We really appreciated the umbrellas, extra luggage stand, beautiful shower/tub, and being able to open the window for fresh air, look out and sit in small sitting area, and plenty of places to charge devices.

United StatesThe cost for what you get. I understand paying for location, but for the price - no meals, no comps, NO VALIDATED PARKING. Part of this falls on booking.com. Unfortunatley I found the price I booked through them was signifcantly higher that the price if I woudl have booked directly through the hotel.
The hotel itself was great and in a great location. It had a parking garage (pay) to eliminate the hassle of finding parking elsewhere. Rooms were fine but nothing extraordinary. The hotel offered a bunch of extras but all came with a price.

United StatesWalls are thin. My neighbor kept me up. After 3 calls downstairs to the desk nothing was done. I slept 1-1/2 hrs 1 night. The 2nd night I went to another hotel but still ended up paying full price for my stay. 2k for 2 nights plus 1 night at an other hotel. I have stayed at many hotels through my time but for a 1k a night for that was definitely a bad investment for the money
Only 1 person actually acted like the cared about my stay. But still did nothing about it

United StatesYou expect more, overall, for such an expensive hotel. The room doesn't have a coffee maker, which is essential nowadays. The bathroom is rather small and the a/c didn't work properly and it is summer.

Saudi ArabiaThe room did not have all of the elements described in the advertisement. No coffee maker, no microwave, no fridge etc. The iron had burned clothes on it. The staff were slow to respond to the issues. The floor of yhe gym shower was so dirty, that I didn't feel comfortable using it. For the price, other options would have been preferred.
The location. The lobby is very comfortable. The suits though spacious are laid out oddly and are not practical. The bed was very comfortable.

LebanonNo complimentary water have to ask for it to be taken up. The towel was way to small. Can see the TV from the bed even after trying to turn it around. When complained to the fron desk manager, all we got were excuses. Not even given the mini bar key at check in. Reminds me of a motel and not a 400 usd room/night hotel.

United StatesCovid has really affected this hotel. The gym is terrible, it used to be terrific with a swimming pool, jacuzzi, etc. There used to be room service, and a mini bar. Now there aren't even water bottles in the room. Now there are two restaurants are either closed or packed, so on two separate trips to the Charles we were not able to eat at Henrietta's Table.......and ended up in the awful bar, Noir on the first floor.
I've been coming to the Charles for over twenty years. It's almost like home away from home. It's tasteful, well located, has nice views, and rooms are comfortable. Henrietta's Table is outstanding, cozy homey food. Enzzo also a welcome addition. The recent renovation has improved the feel of the hotel.

United StatesThis used to be a great hotel. Whether it's Covid or another reason, it doesn't have the amenities or the atmosphere it once had. The restaurant located in the hotel is closed for dinner 2 days a week and breakfast is served only M-F. There is no room service (they advise you to order in). It feels "tired" and empty. The culture is as if you are on your own - very "self-service". It was so disappointing. Even if they have had a hard time finding people to work, and no control over the on-site restaurant, they should rethink their rates. Rooms are over $500.00! For that rate, one expects service apart from being checked in and given a bottle of water. BTW, valet is $50.00/night. It's $40.00 if you park it yourself. Will not stay there again.
Location. But will stay in Boston next time and Uber or cab it to Cambridge.

South AfricaFirstly, there was no hot water in my room it was luke warm. Day 1 I complained nothing happened. Day 2 I complained and they offered me a $100 dollar deduction off my bill. This was for literally having no hot water and they not being able to fix it! The restaurant has a limited menu. Such a waste of money. FOH staff also not the most helpful or friendly. Requests for a late checkout were met with an uncompromising no!
