Absolutely fabulous spot in the heart of this lovely town on the Main Street. Overly welcoming staff, free shuttle to anc from the train station. Loved our stay.

Everything in talkeetna is old and rustic. Sharing a bathroom is not ideal, but to stay at this location it was worth it.

Floors in upper area were very creeky, added a bit too much charm. Although blackout curtains were there, they were not very tight. Luckily I was exhausted from my hikes. Wish there was something to encourage people to be more social, this place would greatly benefit from that. The activities are there, but nothing to draw them in. Could be the clients at the time, I was with my family…

Very unique in a great way, historic. The common areas were filled with social type atmosphere. You could feel the history all around you. Beds were very comfortable and the breakfast was amazing and came with a chat from the chef. Would have been an amazing hostel, and lively if there were more guests.

The owner, Trisha and the chef Michelle were wonderful, warm and welcoming people. We loved our stay here, it felt like we were visiting family. A bonus was having access to the piano and the guitar in the common area/living room. My family loved it here! The best part of our trip.

The floors upstairs are very creaky but that is just part of the historic nature of the place. It was still great!

It was super quaint and nostalgic - like staying at your grandmothers. It was very clean and the hospitality was amazing. They made us a delicious breakfast and the beds and accommodations were great.

The check-in was a little cumbersome as I had some old instructions on how to get in. When I called, though, the proprietor answered promptly and was very kind. My other warning: your door will open from the inside even when it's locked, so you could inadvertently lock yourself out of your room when you go down the hall to use the bathroom. It's been known to happen :) These are small inconveniences when compared to the delights of this place.

This place was an unexpected delight! Based on initial impressions from the outside, I wasn't sure I'd want to spend any extra time on the inside. But that's the historic roadhouse look - don't be put off! The room was fully adequate, even with the bathroom down the hall (though don't forget to unlock your door in when you go to use it in the middle of the night!). The true highlights are the common areas. They are impeccable! Warm, inviting, filled with maps, books, games, and historical items and photos. I wish I had more time to linger. I'd like to come back and spend a couple of days. It also provides a refuge from the somewhat chaotic and loud street scene outside. Talkeetna has turned into a tourist mecca and the roadhouse felt like a place to step out of that and relax. I also loved the touch of fresh cookies greeting me in my room when I arrived!

I'm sure in peak summer, it can be very noisy but I did like that they had little jars of earplugs out to help mitigate that.

A very cozy and comfortable stay. The Upstairs suite gave us space as a family to spread out.

When expectations are lower than reality. And in fact we weren't expecting such a place. In reality it is much nicer than the photos we have seen on the internet. The room is large, it also has a sink. Upon our arrival, we found cinnamon sweets on the table: a really nice thought as well as excellent. At our booking, we knew about the shared bathroom, but as soon as we arrived, we discover the bathroom reserved for each room. All very clean and equipped with every comfort: shampoo, hairdryer, tablecloths of any size and in the morning I even made myself a hot tea since there was everything you need to do it. The place also has coin-operated washing machines. I'm really sorry I was only one night. Next time we return, we will definitely stay longer.
