A martini and cigar on the veranda would have been nice. As it was we enjoyed watching the train come into the station the evening before our trip. We drove up the line and chased the train at upgrade and at crossings before we went to dinner.

we traveled to Chama to add the Cumbres and Toltec excursion to our list of many excursions. We drove down from Manitou Springs Colorado and needed a place to stay. This place looked interesting so we gave it a try. We did not expect the level of detail to the old west motif. Good job. Money well spent.

A very well presented and well furnished room. A beautiful and very spacious bathroom, terrific shower. The bedroom had a huge bed, loads of pillows and a very warm duvet. Very good facilities in a great location right next th Chama railway station. Lots of character in the bedroom, a great place to stay and sitting outside on the balcony was really nice in the evening.

EVERYTHING about our stay was perfect! The room was very comfortable, as was the bed. Location next to the scenic train depot could not have been better-a 2 minute walk. We highly recommend Sterling and Sage to anyone traveling to Chama, NM.

We had to leave to go back to work. Would have loved to stay another night or two. Honestly there is nothing bad to say about this hotel.

This is one of the nicest and most unique lodges we've found. Love the western, mountain themed decor and vibes. Our room was really nice and clean, the owners put a lot of care into this charming hotel. Chama is a neat little town that feels like stepping back in time. Right by the Cumbres and Toltec train depot, there's a strong sense of history. We were here during January on a backcountry snowboarding trip and this was the perfect hotel for a few days. During the summer it would be awesome to stay here when the train is running.

Beautiful place. Comfortable bed and bedding. Loved the bathroom. Easy parking. Room was on the top floor with a short flight of stairs (no elevator). Ambient lighting was beautiful but there wasn’t any bright task lighting.

Would have loved to have the room available for a second night. I booked 2 months in advance but only 1 night available. Ended up driving 2 hours after our extended train ride to find lodging.

We went to ride the train and experience the steam engine. The lofts are the perfect place to watch the train yard and see all that goes into the whole train experience.

We could have used a small table inside the room but overall it was nice. Wasn't a fan of the chairs out on the balcony. Would have preferred something more comfortable.

Everything we had in the room was enough for what we needed. We did not request room service at any point (ie: extra towels, daily cleaning, clean sheets). The room was nicely decorated and eye appealing. The bathroom / shower was extra large and water pressure was excellent. I would book this location again.

The only complaint was that Chama did not have traditional nearby restaurant open. They were closed and/or did not accomodate the train schedule. The Loft was exceptional. We enjoyed. It very much.

The property was fine. The rail trip was good. The two main breakfast places were good. Finding a place to have a good evening dinner impossible. The village of Chama needs to recruit at least two good restaurants for serving dinner.

The only suggestion I would make, is that being someone who is only 5’0; it was impossible for me to see into the bathroom mirror over the sink. I was able to use the lighted mirror provided on the wall, but a step stool or other option would have been much appreciated.

The location was fantastic, especially as we were looking to stay near the train depot. The room was decorated well, and all the attention to detail was top notch. Our room was very comfortable and extremely quiet and clean.

There are no restaurants within the downtown area of Chama. None within walking distance. Also, the room was pretty dark and had inadequate lighting.
