Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

BrazilThe internet connection really sucked. I tried to talk to the hotel staff to see if there was anything to be done, and he politely showed we were in a room very close to the Wi-Fi installations.
The location is a great hint. It is a few minutes walk from outlets such as Ross and Target and the supermarket Ralph’s, where you can find different types of food for each meal. You may also reach the Walk of Fame by foot or the Griffith Observatory as well if you’re in a good shape. Although the hotel does not offer breakfast, there was a microwave, a small freezer and a coffee maker in the room, thus making it easier for us to eat. The hotel stays a one-hour drive to Malibu and 40-50 minutes drive to Santa Monica Pier.

United StatesWe had neighbors above us that were horribly noisy. It sounded like a herd of elephants. I had to ask them to quiet down multiple times. Also, at one point they were taking a shower upstairs and water started coming down through the ceiling fan. The staff were attentive and offered to switch rooms. Overall I would say our stay was ok.
The room was decent. Good parking availability. Great location.

Location, room and cleanliness were perfect. Located close to public transport which was what we mostly used. Room was big and clean. Staff was always very helpful when and if necessary. Very good price/quality.

United StatesThe bed was very firm. The room was clearly aged and needed a bit more touching up from the previous remodel but nothing crazy. The lights on the sides of the bed didn't work but the overhead lights did. The mini fridge in the room didn't cool very well even when turned to max.
The staff was always friendly and helpful. The bed and bathroom were clean. The room was overall clean except for a few typically not touched areas. The location was great for what we needed.
