Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesThe neighborhood turned into a slum village the second the sun went down. Also, no self parking available for guests. You’re forced to either pay $60/night for valet or take your chances with street parking in said slum village.
Very clean, friendly staff, great amenities. Toiletries were fantastic.

United KingdomAll good with the hotel itself. There is a homeless community in the surrouding streets, particularly in the rear street and up to 4th St but we never felt threatened, uncomfortable yes and certainly sad to see, There were some top class hotels and stores in the adjacent streets so the area is not as bad as some make it out to be. I would stay there again given the other advantages of which value for money is another.
We had a good size room on 11th Floor, City view but nothing of note, Shower was hot and powerful. Breakfast was great - Three choices of Hot food (Potatoes, Egg and Meat and plenty of other choices (cereals/yoghurt/waffles/toast/fruit). The location was great for transport with buses/metro and cable car all on nearby Market Street. Bus to GG Bridge is a few yards outside - take it over the bridge then walk back over it and catch the return bus from the Toll Plaza Stop). There are several eateries and a variety of shops nearby too.

New ZealandThis is not the fault of the hotel BUT you do need to be aware that the area on Mission Street between say 4th & 7th Streets can be confronting with groups of homeless gathered. We were not accosted but it did make us not want to venture out at night.
Great city views from our room & also the roof area. Relaxed & ample breakfast choices. Really nice to have a walk-in shower rather than shower over bath. Walking distance to MUNI,BART & other transport options. walking distance to high end shopping as well as Target & Bloomingdales. We walked for the entire time ...down to the waterfront, up to the Coit Tower, down Grant Street through China Town. Plenty of choices to grab a meal nearby.

United StatesFriendlier staff. Hotel staff always makes a difference in the stay.
Breakfast room was way too hot, juices machine was broken and juices they mixed were too watered down. Staff is not friendly as I have had at other hotels. Location kind of sucks. Saw homeless people getting high close to the entrance of the hotel. For the price paid it was ok.

United StatesDidn’t love the area. Not the hotels fault but there were a lot of homeless in the area. We thought the valet parking fee of $70 a night was extreme. We stayed 4 nights it was almost an extra $300! Only one elevator was working for most of our stay and the ac wasn’t adequate in the halls and the breakfast area. I felt that the room got a bit warm too. Also, I can’t remember the last hotel I stayed in that didn’t have a fridge in the room.
The rooftop access was an added bonus. The breakfast was good to start the day.

FinlandThe vallet parking worked like a charm but was a bit expensive. There are parking halls around with much cheaper price. You must have your key card with you all the time or you get stuck. I guess it is because the big city problems overall...
Nice place with friendly service. Rooms were clean and functional although not very spacious. The hotel offered a gym which was okay. The roof top was nice (I wonder why there wasn't any services though) and had a good view around the city. The breakfast was good (but they have some issues with the ac because there was really hot). The hotel is about 45min walk from the Fisherman's Wharf but it is a great stroll through Chinatown etc. There are plenty of restaurants and cafes and shops around the hotel.
