Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesNot for the week, you will see EVERYTHING. The front desk guy really tries to do the best as his work but i can only imagine the things he has to do to keep the place running. Weird people, limited restrooms, stinky beds, filthy floor, the list goes on
You get what you pay for, good if you plan to stay 1 night and you only need a place to sleep. Its cheap and despite everything i would use it again if i must (rather not tho)

Location and price. Friendly staff! Has shred kitchen you can cook, but a large family took over it and was doing a little a cooking which smelled good…

United StatesCheck in was rough. The desk clerk curtly informed me I was the wrong age and nationality to stay there, then said I had not read the information. I received a confirmation and several emails and text messages from the property. None of them mentioned any restriction on age or nationality. Perhaps Booking.com does not allow discrimination based on age and nationality. After I was faced with the possibility of finding a new place to stay at the last minute, the clerk said I could stay. Either make the policy clear before charging in advance for the bed, or don't mention it. As the clerk requested, I will not stay there again. There was a similar dance when I requested a towel. First the clerk said hostels don't provide towels (yes, they do), then he provided one. Two of the beds in the room were so close together, it was a tight squeeze to climb the ladder to the top bunk. Not all beds in the room had this problem. Restrooms ran out of toilet paper in the morning.
The price is right for a place to stay for one night right downtown in San Francisco, near transit and with some restaurants in the neighborhood. I appreciated being able to leave suitcases after checking out early in the morning, then come back later for the suitcases. I got a good night's sleep. There were guests from several countries and it was fun to greet them.

United StatesNo soda machine! Seriously there could be many more amenities but, lack of a soda machine caused me to travel, during the early hours, to a pizza store that happened to be open, for a bottle of water. I was THAT thirsty.
The price can't be beat.

SpainUnfortunately, there are so many homeless all around, living in the streets. Civic center is the closest train/subway station, at least you only have to cross one street, to get there. Times to be attended are limited, to check in and to check out.
It is a good price, you will not get anything Cheaper, so close to city center.

He complained I booked 3rd party. He finally let me stay in the original room but this is ageist, and he tried a very nasty bait and switch. RussiaThe hostel is very cold. The hostel staff made an unpleasant impression: when checking in, the person sitting at the front desk asked me for a $20 deposit. I said that I was going to check out at 2 am. The young man replied that he would warn the person who would give me the money back. At 2 am I came to the office, knocked, no one answered. A man, who didn't sleep, called the employee. The employee first replied that I should check out after 9 am. When I recounted the conversation with his partner, he replied that he registered people yesterday and did not tell anyone this. I had to scold. I gave the money back. And cockroaches. You can see one on the table in the kitchen (see the photo). Booking doesn't allow to download the video.
