“Excellent location for visiting the local nature reserves. Friendly owners who were happy to let me wander around their beautiful garden. Extremely comfortable bed”

  • “The place is amazing, so beautiful, tranquil, peaceful, didn't want to leave.. The grounds are stunning, lodges are so pretty, loved the wildlife, golf, badminton, boats, the local village is lovely.. it's honestly stunning!”

  • “Proximity to the centre of Bury St Edmunds. Could walk to the Cathedral and The Apex theatre. Pretty well equipped for our two nights stay. Liked having two TVs.”

  • “The accommodation was beautifully presented, clean, and well provisioned. The furnishings were exceptional, so well thought out, and it really was a home from home. Great location too, peaceful and beautiful surroundings and the host was really welcoming and friendly. A very special place.”

  • “Excellent location, just yards from the seafront. John is a lovely welcoming host and is very caring with his guests. Property is located in the beautiful back garden of the house, easy to access and private with outdoor table and chairs for guest use. The property is well designed and has everything you need. The stairs to the main sleeping area are steep ( based on ship's, hence the name!). Sleeping is 3 mattresses upstairs in the attic/deck room (1 double, 2 single) with all bedding provided, there is also a sofabed downstairs. The area is calm and quiet but with lots of facilities and things to do nearby - great walks and cafes nearby. The weather was hot when we were there and the Wheelhouse was a perfect temperature, never over heated and also seemed as though it would also be warm and cosy on colder days too. Highly recommended for a relaxing break.”

  • Abbey Gardens Cottage Review score: 10

“We had a very comfortable stay, in this lovely house, with everything we needed. The location is excellent. The car park is a 5 minute walk away and easily accessed. We stayed for 2 nights so we paid £9 for a week's parking, instead of the daily rates. The apple juice provided by the host was delicious and a nice touch.”
