“The property is literally on the beach and you can hear the waves when you wake each morning. The beach itself is beyond beautiful, the best we’ve visited, with calm waters so clear that you can see fish swimming around you, and there are mountains all around making the scenery and views even more epic. It’s a very quiet and chilled little bay so the perfect place for a getaway to fully relax and restore the soul.
The staff were always smiling and very friendly and helpful. They made tasty caipirinhas and provided tact boats so we got to explore more of the beautiful island.
Would 100% recommend and hope to return someday! :)”

“Nice setting in a tropical garden, next to a stream, where you can watch little (humming)birds fly by. There are 5 black cats on site and a communal space to relax in. Some rooms have hammocks in front. It's relatively quiet. Decent wifi.”

Boat tour organised by hotel was outstanding - Rafael is a great guide and the tour was good value for money (don't be tempted by the in town vendors). Hotel also advised on transfers from Rio and back and selected an excellent and friendly driver for us.”

“Casa Matatiso is a tranquil place with everything you'd want for a stay on Ilha Grande. Kitchen was really well-equipped, the room and property was clean. Beds are very comfortable. The outside deck has seating and a table plus hammocks. Recommend!”
