Our stay at Aretê was great! Esmeralda is a lovely host, she prepares a very good and fresh breakfast every day, and makes the most to make you feel comfortable. Carlos was simply amazing: he was clear in explanation ,and helped us a lot to plan tours , gave us good suggestion where to go and what to do. Besides he also speaks English (not that common in Brazil) and Spanish as well as Portuguese. Highly recommended!

Location is fabulous, right on the main beach near the ferry port. Near all main attractions but still quiet and set back. Esmeralda is a lovely kind woman and makes a great breakfast and keeps the place spotless. Carlos is a lovely bloke and a tour guide himself so he has top-notch knowledge of the island and helped us arrange a fabulous all day multi island/beach tour which was one of the highlights of our stay in Rio. They were very kind and sympathetic when one of us had sunstroke as well. As other reviewers have mentioned this is a home stay (the hosts plus two guest rooms) rather than a hotel/hostel, so if you don't want the personal touch it's not for you. However if you want a great value, location, clean room with good facilities and kind and friendly hosts, book in here!

My husband and I had the loveliest time in this paradise. The B&B was on the beach and we could sleep listening to the soft sound of the waves. The owners were very kind and welcoming; they provided us good advice and suggestions about what to do, places to eat and advised about the day trips on and around the island. The breakfast was great and in the afternoon we always spent some time with the owners chatting away. Definitely a place to enjoy !

Carlos is a wonderful host, available at all time, he helped us planning our activities (even accompanied us to make the reservations). Carlos is in love of his island and knows how to share it with you. He explained the history of the island and suggested a lot of places as hiking paths and snorkeling areas or even restaurants. Carlos and his family are very welcoming and cheerful and make sure to accommodate everything so your stay is plain and enjoyable without any stressful moments. The breakfast is varied and delicious (fruits, ham, coffee, fresh juice, bread, etc...) in a cosy garden with a view on the sea. We thank him a lot for this wonderful and unforgettable journey at Ilha Grande. We won’t forget it. We highly recommend this beautiful house to stay in during your journey at Ilha Grande.

Arete Isla Grande es el mejor alojamiento de la isla, ya desde antes de nuestra llegada, Carlos, que también trabaja ahí se preocupa por ti. La casa es preciosa, esta muy bien cuidada, y la pieza que nos tocó también era increible. Cuentas con aire acondicionado, Wifi, ducha caliente, baño en suite. Durante tu estadía, Carlos te introduce a la isla, y te ayuda de acuerdo a los días que vayas a estar a organizar tours u otros. Habla muchos idiomas, por lo que esto no es una barrera. Sin embargo, lo mejor de este alojamiento es Esme. Se ve que disfruta el poder recibir huéspedes en su casa, conversar con ellos y poder contar algo de su historia de vida. Sus desayunos son increíbles, y siempre pone cosas extra para que puedas armar sandwiches u otros para llevar a los tours. No cambiaría nada. Excelente lugar. Pensando ya en cuando volver!!
