Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

PortugalOur stay was exceptional , from the moment we were welcomed by our host Duarte to the elegant breakfast in the dining room . We had planned to tour Elvas but instead we enjoyed basking in the history and grander of this boutique hotel. We fixed our own gun and tonics with herbs ( 6 different gins to choose from!) from the honor bar and whiled away 2 hours looking at books and magazines from their collection.Later we shared a bottle of wine with cheese outdoors by the pool. The bed was very comfortable with lush down pillows .. a perfect evening .

AustraliaWe had terrible trouble with confusing directions from GPS. The hotel needs to send good directions. E.g drive through city walls at Sao Vicente gate tooting to warn oncoming cars. Immediately on the left is a war memorial then a small street on the left before a little square with a fountain. Turn left. Continue straight into Rue do Lobato and park. Rua da Figueira is slightly behind to the left. Travassos 11 is the pink palace on the left.
We liked the location once we had finally found Travassos11. The GPS and directions given were of no help. This is a superbly restored former palace with exquisite decor. We had a delicious evening meal prepared for us by Candida and served by Rawan. My dairy free diet was carefully considered. We were the sole diners in the beautiful dining room. It was very special. Both ladies were so friendly and spoilt us. Breakfast and comfortable room made this a great stay.

United KingdomAn amazing property. Wonderfully refurbished as a guest hotel, but retaining the historical features. More than just somewhere to stay, gives you an insight into the history of the area itself.

Netherlandsit’s a fantastic place, very few small things that can be improved. e.g. something to keep the flies away and avoiding getting them in the apt. some of the doirs at the apt gets a bit stuck and they make noises, so you will wake up others if you go to the toiyin the middle of the night. The small kitchen at the apt is a big bonus- perhaps adding a chopping board (or at least we couldn’t find it)… just to make it a bit easier when slicing some fruits or bread. note: we didn’t cook at the apt, only had some snall meals snd drinks. some reviews talk about the location, but not once did it feel unsafe- people are maybe less privileged in this area, but they are nice people. it’s a lively neighborhood, so you will hear music and people talking, but it gets quiet around 21hr. it’s in a residential area, which to me adds to the charm.
we stayed 5 nights in the apt and we based at this place to disciver Elvas some lovely villages in the Alto Alentejo. thus is a gorgeous place, very nicely renovated, lovely spacious apt, well-runned accommodation, amazing people/staff, fresh home made breakfast. small (8 rooms and 1 apt with 2 rooms) peaceful hotel, a lovely garden with a pool, honesty bar… so many positives reasons to stay here.

SwedenWhen we travel, we prefer more of a home atmosphere. If a property offers the chance to stay in an historic place, complete with period settings, even better. Travassos 11 offers all of this, and more. We took the two bedroom apartment, and it is a “wow”. The old house, with tiled stairs, antiques, and large family style dining room, is a marvel. The staff are as well prepared and supportive as the property. We really enjoyed our stay here.

PortugalNothing - everything was perfect
We loved this tastefully restored manor house in the heart of Elvas. The principal rooms were stunning and beautifully restored. We loved having breakfast in the dining room with its amazing tiled walls. Our room had a private terrace and opened out onto the gardens and pool. It was so tastefully decorated and incredibly comfortable. The other side of the corridor was a large kitchen/sitting room where you could help yourself to tea and coffee as well as other drinks and it was run as an honesty bar. Our host was a delightful man and gave us a guided tour of the house and made us feel very welcome.
