Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomThe mattress was very springy making for a rather disturbed night for my husband who moves around a lot in his sleep. Slightly disappointed with the breakfast as there was only fresh fruit and not prepared fresh fruit, plus the scrambled eggs were rubbery. But it was very nice eating on the patio and being served by the helpful staff.
Lovely bright spacious clean room (we were fortunate to be upgraded to a junior suite which had a fabulous view over the city and relaxing patio/balcony) Very friendly, helpful staff. Quiet bar a few of the inevitable dogs barking, and well worth the uphill walk back after exploring the city! If we ever found ourselves back in Madeira we'd definitely look at booking again.

HungaryWe stayed only one night due to flight cancellation. I am a bit sad that i did not found this place earlier.
Very nice and flexible workers. They were helpful. The room was unexpectedly well equiped (kitchen with tools) and in the minibar there were some pasta availble so you can cook a quick dinner just in case. The breakfast was nice too outside in the garden, with a panorama to Funchal (you can see the ocean too from the garden). I also liked the building itself, the room with the huge window and the nice wooden structure inside and outside.

United KingdomThere were ants in our room and we didn't know how to get rid of them.
Kitchen was a great addition to the room, showers were wonderful and the beds were comfy Best thing was the breakfast experience where they let you sit outside by the terrace and bring you cake, waffles, English breakfast etc. Service was absolutely wonderful could not love the hotel staff more.

United KingdomThe only thing I would say was there were no complimentary teas or coffees in the room only ones you had to buy.
Where do I start....lovely staff who were happy to help with anything. Private, safe parking for as long as we needed. Our studio room had all of the cooking facilities and utensils we needed, lovely shower with beautiful shampoo, etc, beds were so comfy. The place itself has stunning views and one of the best breakfasts I have had at a hotel overlooking Funchal. It is set high enough out of town to have the quietness but only a 10min walk down to explore. Highly reccomended.

Czech RepublicBreakfast is not served buffet style, but is served by staff from 8 am. So you have to expect to eat breakfast for an hour, which is a very pleasant ritual on the terrace. If you need to leave the hotel early, the staff will be happy to prepare your breakfast the day before and store it in the fridge in your room. It's just a shame that the hotel management doesn't provide more fresh fruit for breakfast (only apples, pears, oranges, mandarins, kiwis and bananas were available) although there is a plethora of them in the nearby market (Mercado dos Lavradores). It's also a shame that the popular pastel de nata is never served for breakfast, even if you are - technically - in Portuguese territory.
