Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.

By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

AustraliaBeautifully renovated house. Amazing decor and lovely host. We were so comfortable staying at Paula’s house. It’s an easy downhill walk to the lovely old town of Coimbra. Paula gave us a great suggestion of a local restaurant for dinner and lots of helpful information about the town and its history. Louis greeted us the next morning with the most amazing breakfast. Perfect stay!

PortugalWe only wished that Paula would have told us when we booked, rather than at arrival, about the all night parties and noise because we could hear the Very loud music playing from about 10PM-6AM. We did request a quiet room when we booked. Hmmmm. That morning my husband noticed a couple moving from what seemed like it would be a quiet room due to its location. He asked if we could move to that room. The staff was very accommodating for the move. Thankfully it was indeed Much Much quieter in that 2nd room and the next two nights we could not hear the music and slept very well. So if you are planning on visiting around the last week of May, ask about the graduation festival, and make Sure you get a quiet room to start with if you need one. We would definitely return. Maybe not during the festival though.
This place is a gem! The owner, Paula, was super friendly, kind, and welcoming. She gave us the interesting history of her beautiful home and Coimbra, plus things to do in the area. The breakfast was over the top amazing. So many yummy things to choose from at the breakfast buffet. The server super nice, and he was excellent at his job! For example he would bring us another cup of coffee just as we finished the last. The entire place is immaculately decorated and clean. The rooms are gorgeous and beds are very comfortable with high quality linens. They have very nice towels and provide soap and shampoos. Very generous. After Paula's introduction and information session she mentioned that she hoped our room would be quite enough as it was the week of all night parties for the graduates.

United States of AmericaExcellent location, beautiful views, well-equipped guest house, extremely comfortable. Owner Paula showed us to our room, gave us maps and history of Coimbra and Portugal in general. The story of Pedro and Ines was especially fascinating! We so appreciated the depth of information and the pride she had in her home and country. The amenities including the drawing room access to a Nespresso machine and tea at any time, and in particular the amazing breakfast served outside on patio or in dining room as desired went above and beyond for us.

United States of AmericaJust as other reviewers have mentioned, the situation of the hotel is on a very steep hill with a lot of traffic. That being said, I would still recommend it highly.

United KingdomA very slight rainfall one morning, hardly within the control of human agency.
Paula is the best host we have had. She spent a long time explaining the delights of Coimbra and ways of experiencing the city and the region. As we were staying for six nights she gave us her attic suite, then worried if we would find the stairs hard to manage: not at all as we made the journey several times a day in addition to the steep routes into and back from Coimbra city. Her comment was "I hope when I reach your age I will be able to do all that you do." Nothng was too much trouble for her, nor for Luis, who presided over the sumptuous breakfast buffet, with a cooked addition of poached egg, cheese, ham and sourdough toast. At the end of our stay Paula insisted on driving us to the station, loading the suitcases and ensuring we could reach our intended destination.

United States of AmericaWishing we could have stayed longer.
We can not adequately express the wonderful experience that is CoimbraAmeias. The welcome from our host, Paula, was extraordinary. She treated us to fruit and port during the check-in process. She gave us a comprehensive orientation to the area and the locations of sites that interested us, and included the historic background of her house and city. Paula provided maps and restaurant recommendations as well. Her warmth and energy made us feel as though we were with family. Breakfast was delicious and served outside on the patio. We were within walking distance to center of historic sites. The decor, views, and comfort of CoimbraAmeias surpassed our expectations. This is an opportunity not to be missed!

United States of AmericaThe detail to aesthetic, the cleanliness, the quality of everything.
We cannot say enough good things about this lovely place. From the moment we were greeted by Paula I felt like we were family. The detail to each room, the quality of the bedding and our special detached cottage, the incredible views from the outdoor patio, the superb breakfast from Luis every morning, the detailed advice and lesson on the history of Coimbra from Paula, all was fantastic. Traveling through this wonderful country for a month has been so good but this was a highlight.

United States of AmericaThe only drawback was the parking situation. Our rental car was not designed for the steep slope of the driveway by the door of the inn. Luckily, there was parking below, even though you had to back out onto a busy road. However, the hosts very graciously helped stop traffic so we could get out!
The entire inn was charming. The hosts were so helpful and friendly. And the breakfasts were amazing! Great views of the city as well. I would suggest this as a great couples place!
