Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomNothing! Loved everything! :)
Great hotel, friendly staff, good simple selection for breakfast before a big day at MP! Staff were helpful and explain a map of the town and where to get bus tickets etc. We walked from Hidroelectric and this is one of the first hotels you pass on the walk in to AC so that's great. At the bottom of the hill by the river - we loved the sound of the river, yes it is loud but it becomes white noise and we never slept better! They let us store our luggage and were always really helpful when we had questions. Hotel is located in a quieter area (AC is TINY so you get to the main bit in about 30 seconds anyway). If you stay here, there is an artist called Vicente in one of the gift shops along the road - visit him! His work is amazing :)

We hiked the trail up to the entrance of Machu Picchu, and the location was perfect (right in the road to the trailhead). Great breakfast to fuel us up for the hike.

United StatesThere was only enough hot water for me to shower at night. There was not hot water for my wife, so she was forced to wait until the morning to shower.
The staff were excellent! Our room wasn't ready when we got there, but they stored our bags and gave us great tips on getting to Machu Picchu. They also stored our bags after check-out until almost 6pm that night.

United KingdomAs the weather is quite humid, the room could feel a bit damp so maybe a dehumidifier would help. The curtains could be updated, also a full length mirror would be good. However we were doing a drop and go hotel stay - too much to experience outside, this was not lounging in our room stay.
the location was amazing - short walk to bus stop for machu picchu queues, train station, bars shops etc. The view from our little balcony was beautiful - mountains and river! The staff were wonderful - they collected us from train station and were always helpful and spoke great English. The early breakfast from 4.30am was great especially to eat before sunrise early tours. They had fruit, juices, hot eggs cold meats, cheeses, avocado so would suit most diets. The room was comfortable- soft bedding and nice towels.

United StatesThe room smelled a bit musty when we checked in, but I think that’s the nature of any lodging in this area. The room itself was very clean.
The property is beautiful, overlooking the river and on a quiet street. The balcony was a beautiful spot to sit and enjoy the view. The staff were super friendly and helpful.

United KingdomNothing looked ultra modern or new, but who am I to judge when a renovation is due. The genuine important thing is the noise from the running water. It put me to sleep, but if you’re a light sleeper, maybe stay further away from the noisy water (if such an option exists)
Great value for money, great location (maybe if you have huge luggage then it being downhill makes going to the train station difficult) and had all needed for a stay before visiting Machu Picchu!

United KingdomWi-Fi didn’t work.
The staff very helpful. They offered to pick me up from the station. The room overlooking the river was a nice view. It’s at the edge of the town, but walkable distance from everything and worth staying there for the view. Breakfast at 4:30 am was appreciated.

CanadaAmazing staff who went out of their way to make our stay and visit to Machu Picchu awesome. Personalized service and more. Chris the owner and his staff helped us more than we could have expected. The breakfast buffet was awesome. I had a chance to see the care that went into setting things up the night before as I awaited friends in the lobby. Lots of attention to detail. A lucky late checkout accommodation made all the work perfectly. Great location on the river Pro-tip try to book a room with a balcony for you morning coffee with sunrise.

SpainVery nice litte hotel in Machu Picchu Pueblo! Only 5 or 10 minutes walking to the train station, the artisan market, and the restaurants, shops. etc. The room was very tastefully decorated, the bed was super-comfortable, and the TV had DirecTV channels (perfect for relaxing after a day in Machu Picchu). We had a room on the 4th floor overlooking the river, which at the time was raging! The view was spectacular. I slept very well with the sound of the river. The staff is very friendly and always willing to help with recommendations.
