Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

GermanyThis hostel, the house, is more than stunning! The old building and the way how its preserved might be something you won't see often - at least not as a hostel! Its insanly beautiful. What I also enjoyed a lot, was my dorm room, as the ceiling was very high, the beds build in a way, that they are absolutely stable and... they have curtains! My dorm room was also quite huge (though not all dorm rooms do have the same size!). The comon areas are beautiful, you can sit on the terrace, or inside, play table tennis, or visit the bar. The only thing I found was missing: A kitchen! But in this case, I do not mind, as the building is so outstanding. Also, you 'll find a lot of great places for food in the sourrounding of the hostel. Also the way to the beach (downstairs) is nice (it might take you roundabout 25 minutes, from the hostel, to the beach, the beautiful pacific).

United StatesIt was a bit noise at night, not from guests staying at the hostel but from the outside traffic.
I like the location of the hostel. The rooms were comfortable and they have a private bathroom.

United StatesThe staff is very helpful and friendly, they all can speak English. The travel agent stays all day at front desk helping people to book different tours around Lima. Location is very convenient, there are a lot of good restaurants nearby. The front desk Joel helped us to book a car to airport which is much cheaper than Uber and taxi, he even stayed with us waiting outside of hotel for the ride coming, thank you so much Joel! Highly recommended!

United KingdomWould have been nice to have some air conditioning, but the room did have a fan.
The hostel has a lot of character and it's in a great location in Barranco. My room was huge too and was a treat for my last 2 nights in Peru. Good bar area and free walking tours also leave from the hostel. I would definitely recommend. Trying to decide on a hostel in Lima felt like a minefield, but you won't be disappointed staying here. Lots of lovely streets to walk around and cafés etc. Ubers are really cheap to Miraflores too. Reception staff were very helpful.

United KingdomThe staff are amazing at this palace stay and are so hospitable. I had to move rooms and it was ok. I needed help and they did it with a smile. And there's no hidden bank charges, which was refreshing. And yes, it is a former palace...I recommend the walking tours too.

AustraliaI booked a private room but it did not have air-conditioning only had a fan. This was not clear in the booking and i thought it was strange given the share rooms have air-conditioning. It was also literally right next to the bar, even though I asked for a room further away. If you're a light sleeper, good luck!, because people are walking past late into the morning and it can get quite loud. Those in the share rooms had better experience as was quieter and had air-conditioning.
Location of this hostel is perfect for those wanting to stay in the hipper area of Lima. I loved being able to walk to the nearby restaraunts and cafes and felt very safe as a solo woman. The hostel had a lot of social events which was great fun, met a great group of people which made the experience really memorable.
