Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.

United KingdomHaving to pay for the hotel car parking was a bit cheeky in my opinion but maybe that’s typical in Norway. We had a bathtub in our room with a shower head on the wall and the water went absolutely everywhere when using the shower and flooded the bathroom (it wasn’t intended to be a wet room as far as I’m aware) and the water was scalding hot. The burgers in the new restaurant were overpriced and underwhelming.
Great location right on the dock. We managed to use one of the electric car chargers in the car park which was v handy. The staff were lovely and squeezed us in for dinner in the burger restaurant late in the evening. The view from the room and from both the restaurants was great.

United KingdomAll was ok. Despite the amazing views outside it felt rather dark and the huge turnover of those staying meant that it lacked atmosphere. The dinner (a buffet) was very expensive but we were so grateful since out travel had been very delayed and it was still serving at 9pm.

United StatesThis hotel was very, very expensive, so while every was quite nice, it was not especially good value for the money. The small town where it is located also gets cruise ships docking nearby, and becomes inundated. Look up the cruise docking schedules, and choose nights for your stay when no ship is scheduled.
Very scenic location, and a great train ride to Flam on the famous Flam railway. I strongly recommend renting bicycles and riding them up towards the waterfalls on the service road that parallels the train tracks - that was a highlight.

The location was fantastic. Stunning views. The room was comfortable. The breakfast was delicious with lots of options. Ate dinner at both restaurants and had drinks and coffee at the bar. Three stories with large glass windows offered fabulous views every time we ate. Staff were knowledgeable and friendly.

United KingdomCheck-in not until 4pm. Asked about reservations for dinner and was told it wasn't possible - went to dinner early (when it was empty) and was told off for not making a reservation. All the other staff were very welcoming and helpful. Incredibly expensive hotel for what you get, but you have very few options in Flåm so they can charge what they want. Proper shampoo/conditioner in the bathroom would be a basic addition for the price.
Very convenient location, beautiful views from the room. Ability to store bags. Most of the staff very helpful and welcoming. Spotless room and comfy bed.
