Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

BelgiumThe flat was on the second floor with a very steep staircase. It is not suitable for elderly people or someone with reduced mobility. It is under the attic and is rather hot in summer.
Great location in the heart of Middelburg. The flat was well furnished, big and with a nice terrace. Excellent breakfast served at the table. Helpful staff.

United KingdomAs in all the old towns parking your own car is a problem. Had a walk to and from the hotel although very good they had a designated area to be able to load and unload the car.
Good location within the town. The breakfast was very good being served at the table making a change from the usal buffet style. Room very comfortable and with everything you needed. Good they had designated area at the front of the hotel for loading and unloading the car.

United KingdomMy room had a sleeping gallery which was up a set of very steep stairs with very small treads!
The staff were very friendly, professional and helpful. Check-in was easy. The room was clean and provided what I needed. The breakfast was excellent.

NetherlandsFelt like we got the worst room in the hotel, 13. The room description stated that the bedroom was on another floor in the room. It was a loft, with a bed. There was very little space to walk around, only one side of the bed had space beside it. Also I would recommend allotting the cleaning crew with time every month to deep clean. The shower had orange soap scum stains. Also, a brighter entrance into the room would be nice, since there’s no natural light there.
Beautiful property, great location.

United KingdomThe living are was a little crowded and the shower open directly into the living area, offering no privacy, if you needed it. Similarly, the wash hand basin was in the open living area rather than with a shower and toilet in a separate bathroom. These were little things, overall the hotel was very good.
The location was excellent, right in the centre of the town. The breakfasts were excellent too; they were served at the table in your dedicated one-hour slot. The room was fairly comfortable but a bit on the small side down stairs. The bedroom was upstairs, accessed by very steep and narrow stairs. Nice coffee machine in the room. Wifi worked well. We were there in a cold April so there was no need to try the air-conditioning.

United KingdomRoom on second floor with very steep stairs. There was a draft through the window behind the bed. You can park outside the front door easily in street paid parking bays. The hotel garage is some distance away. Also the restaurant was closed so the hotel was lacking in any atmosphere. I’m fed up of asking for a dinner reservation when booking and arriving at the hotel and finding the restaurant is closed. Fortunately the receptionist directed us to a fabulous fish restaurant close by which I would go to again if we stayed at the hotel in future.
Beautiful hotel. Excellently designed modernisation of the very old building. The room was delightfully equipped with excellent lighting. Delicious breakfast.

United KingdomOur room was next to reception so was a little noisy during the day, which didn't bother us at all, we liked the buzz, but may be an issue if we'd been travelling for work. It was very quiet at night.
The room was great with a high level of attention to detail, eg reading light over the bed and electric shaving mirror. The staff were friendly and welcoming. The breakfasts were delicious.

United KingdomIt was disappointing that we couldn't eat at the hotel due to a function being held, wish we had known beforehand as we may have changed our mind as the storm was raging and we were forced to head outside in horrible conditions to eat an evening meal.
It was a wonderful hotel with wonderful staff in a wonderful place.

NetherlandsI didn't like the quality of the Wifi. Most of the time it was not functioning at all. We have mentioned this to the hotel but the solution didn't work either. For my kids, WiFi availability is a must ...
- Location: Top - Breakfast: Good; you need to reserve for a one-hour shift in advance. - The rooms are quite noisy. - Bed: really good - Bathroom: very good

AustriaNothing really to complain about.
We liked the Roosevelt for the historic building, central location and the artsy interiors and decoration. Breakfast was served (in contrast to the usual buffet style) with a very good selection of different choices. The location is as central as could be in the historic city center and parking is available just in front of the hotel (although you might want to find a different spot for longer stays given there is a meter). We will definitely consider the Roosevelt when we come back to lovely Middelburg.

AustraliaThe WiFi was a bit patchy and regularly dropped out. Half the TV channels didn't work or TV reception was poor (probably due to the WiFi issues). The room was advertised as having a refrigerator but it was a pizo electric cupboard that hardly cooled. The breakfast options were very limited and the scrambled eggs resembled an overcooked damaged omelette rather than fluffy scrambled eggs. We were offered over easy fried eggs on the first morning but they weren't available for the remainder of our stay. Likewise the shot glass of smoothy. The stairs are very narrow and very steep to the first floor. No access for a wheelchair. A couple of the staff were a bit sour. The nearest parking station (the one referred by the hotel staff) does not accept Visa cards or Eu50 denominated notes so payment can be a problem unless you have a wad of EU20 and EU10 notes. No workable air conditioning.
Great location in the Old Town Centre. Has a pretty good restaurant although the menu was limited. The room was a reasonably size and had a great working desk. The area was fairly quiet. Loved the free Jazz concert (monthly event). Nice to have a served breakfast rather than a buffet but there is very little choice options for breakfast. Parking is not on site but you can stop out front to unload and the parking station is only a 5 minute walk away (15 minute drive).
