I would have liked a refrigerator an kettle in the room but I realize it was only 2 star. In Australia where I come from even 2 star hotels have these.

Wifi barely worked.

Location is great, and that's mainly what matters. Atmosphere is really as much 'hostel' as 'hotel' -- this ain't no four star experience. But staff were friendly and room had a floor and walls.

Bathroom was a little small, especially the shower. The walls are thin and you can hear anyone coming in or out.

The shower head was low and the stairs are very steep and narrow (but I expected that).

The room was clean. It was on the small side but there was still room for a desk and chair and another chair. The bed and pillows were better than expected.

The very steep dutch stairs, but you get used to them.

I loved the big window, view and calm in the single bedroom. Also, it was small, but had everything I needed. And it was useful to leave the luggage at the reception on the last day for some hours.

Room was relatively simple but as expected - I did not need anything more. The weakest point was bed, or more specifically mattress, which was probably too old and needs to be replaced urgently. Bathroom was very tiny - you basically need to go out from bathroom to use your towel. Wifi was okayish for work but not good for videos. And be ready for very steep stairs to higher floors. Unfortunately, major building work (complete street resurfacing) was happening outside hotel and builders start to use heavy and very noisy tools at 7am. Not good at all! Especially during warm nights like these ones when you want to have open window.

Cleanliness was inconsistent. The towels in the bathroom were not conveniently placed, some hooks would be good. I knew I was booking a small room, but there were some very tight corners.

A beautiful view over the canal in the back, the wide open window, birdsong in the morning. The coziness of the room. The kindness of the staff. A sanctuary for one.

It's still a 20 minute walk into the oldest section of town (cathedral). Parking is expensive (3 euro an hour). For those with mobility issues, the stairs to rooms are a bit steep.

The hotel comprises historic apartments converted into a hotel. Ours was in the basement, which sounds dodgy, but in fact had a window door straight out onto the canal garden. The breakfast was not amazing but fine (boiled egg and cold items), plus hot drinks.

The beds (single) beds were very narrow (to the point of almost rolling off them accidentally at night). The shower was fairly small (but that is a feature of most Europe hotels - not a negative, just adjust expectations). The staircase is *very* steep. Again, it's a Europe thing and not a negative, just a heads up.

The location is very close to the central bus line that goes into old town. The room was rather large for the price. It is close enough to the highways too. It has some very scenic parks and canals nearby if you want a break from the old town tourist trap.

I felt like there was always a faint smell of spilled pee in the bathroom, from the day we arrived. My roommate did not smell this as frequently. I have no explaination as to why this was. The curtains were also really thin and let trough light very easily.

Very good breakfast, they tidied the room everyday. The staff explained everything clearly the first day. The hotel was really easy to find and close to public transport.

The shower is really uncomfortable to use, not enough space. The stairs are not suitable for elderly people or if you have a lot of luggage.

The room did not have blinds. Therefore you wake up very earlier due to the light just coming directly into the room.

The room smelled like old cigar / stale water. The breakfast was a bit meager (could use some more fruit and nuts).

The location is alright for a visit downtown. The reception was friendly and quick. The radiator in the room worked well.

Overall it was pleasant, and it was the small things that were less than perfect. Nothing dramatic, but the hotel can improve by paying attention to small details.

The breakfast was healthy and varied, cereal, tea, eggs, etc. There were daily mints at the entrance, which was a nice touch.

Staff unlocked and came into my room for cleaning when I was still in there a couple of times, which made me uncomfortable. Staff should have a better way of communicating with multi-day visitors if they want a cleaning service every day, or to be left alone. The bathroom of the room I stayed in was functional but rather small.

Very comfortable bed and room design, with bright windows and view of the canal. Wifi was high quality and check in experience was very simple and staff made me feel relaxed. Accessing the hotel after hours was simple. Coffee facilities and hairdryer were a plus.
