Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

GermanyThe AC is for all rooms together as the top of the walls is missing. The AC is extremely cold. Also, as the walls are not going all the way, you can hear everything other people are doing & saying.
The location was good and the cleanliness was on point.

MalaysiaYou will hear noises from next building all day long.
Overall clean facilities provided. Kitchen area, free water dispenser and common lounge. Near to bus and train station. Helpful staffs. Pricewise good deal. Although it's a thin partitioned room it's an individual room with single bed.

MalaysiaYou can hear someone next door cough or sneeze or snore and even when they are on the phone. Besides the light from next door can affect the brightness in your area. The water pressure is kind of low tho when you take a shower.
You have personal space to do things on your own. It got WiFi but sometimes it disconnected on its own. This place is kind of secluded but was okay, near the Little India area. Remember to bring RM30 as a deposit.

FinlandThe area is a bit questionable. I wouldn't walk outside alone at night time. At the day time no problem! The rooms had a gap between walls and ceiling so that air could flow. However, this resulted in all the sounds coming from other rooms and the room was not dark at night.
Stuff was really friendly and helpfull. Property has everything needed (hairdryer, microwave etc.). Room was clean and nice and there was locker. Hotel other quest was all males but I did not feel uncomfortable or faced any issues here.

United KingdomJust bear in mind that it is still a hostel so even though you have your own space, the area is shared and you can hear everyone else on the floor. Not a problem for me, but important to understand beforehand
What you see is what you get with this place. It’s super budget but you do get your own space which is more than can be said for most hostels. The location is right next to the train station and old town which is ideal. I can recommend this place if you want to save some money and aren’t fussy

United StatesThere wasn't any WiFi the entire time I was there. I let the person at the desk know right away, and in two days nothing was done about it. Have a good data plan if you are going to stay here. There was air-conditioning but it was set to whatever temperature the property decided (which wasn't much) and no fans to move the air around. So the air was stagnant. I had to go outside a few times just so the breeze could cool me off. They put up signs saying quiet time at 22:00, but no one enforces it. Each night we were there, a group of people were making noise well past midnight. You have to take off your shoes before entering from the hall, so you end up with dirt on your feet. If someone recently took a shower and brought water with them, then it made the floor slippery.
You can't beat the price. Filtered water available. The bed was comfortable. The location was good. Only about a 15 minute walk to the train station.

SwitzerlandThe facility is not clean, common areas like toilets, shower, lounge, sink, fridge, microwave, all dirty! No toilet paper provided, you are expected to use the bidet or bring your paper. The room is not sound proof, you hear everything! The two nights I stayed there, a guest has his alarm started at 4:30 and repeated every 15 mins till 5:30! Another guest went to bang his door to shout at him.. bring your earplugs and eyeshades!
Location is the only reason why I stayed two nights there, it is 5 minutes walk from central bus station, where I can get buses to go to the long distance bus station in Ipoh and to the temples, also within walking distance to old town, little India. The room is clean when I checked in, but there is no cleaning service, so after 2 days, it is time to move out! The place is centrally air-conditioning. It is very cheap but not comfortable at all!

MalaysiaIt seems like they never clean the toilet, no one is throwing the tissue roll that was already ran out. I stayed there for 4 nights and the condition of the toilets since I first came till my last day is the same. I feel like they intentionally do not throw the tissue roll to give an impression that they give free common tissue for toilet use
You can have your own little privacy since there are boarded up walls.

United KingdomIt's a shame because if just a few basic things were done, then I would have given this review 8 stars. The bathrooms weren't clean, there was no toilet paper in any of the stalls. The stalls are showers combined with a toilet, which is fine, but they weren't cleaned once during my 3 night stay. The WiFi doesn't work, and when I asked about it the staff said that it wasn't very good - but it just didn't connect at all. Although this place does give you more privacy than a regular hostel, the rooms aren't completely private, there is a large gap between the top of each room wall and the ceiling so that you can hear everything other guests are doing, and if they turn on a light in their room, you'll wake up. This really isn't a big issue if you have respectful people staying there, however I struggled to sleep because some guests were inconsiderate. They'd be slamming doors, talking loudly at eachother, turning on lights at 1am and again at 7am. I think that this issue isn't so much of a problem in regular hostels, since you're literally sleeping in the same room as other guests, therefore you're naturally more aware of being noisy. The separate compartments at 'Spot On City Hostel' make it easier for guests to be rowdy. I know that this isn't technically the fault of the hostel itself, but it is a fault in the design of the place. The last thing to mention would be that there are bats in the building next door that are constantly squeaking. I mean genuinely nonstop, all day and they get louder at night. I've seen some people in the reviews for this place call them rats or birds, but they are definitely bats. Overall, if you're looking for somewhere cheap for a short stay, and if the cleaning and restocking was done better, I would recommend this place. I do however think that if you don't mind staying in a regular hostel, then you'd be able to find better accommodation elsewhere.
My room was clean and they provide you with a towel and a bar of soap. The building is air-conditioned. The staff were friendly. Generally speaking the place looks newly refurbished and what you get for the price is decent. There is a well equipped common area on each floor with a microwave, fridge, toaster, sofas and racks to hang clothes to dry. The hostel is also in a pretty good location. Be aware that they don't allow any alcohol in the hostel, and they have other strict house rules, which some people might not like.
