Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

MalaysiaFood prices are a little steep
Get why it’s the beloved local getaway island. Last time I came here was 30 years ago and it retains the same luxury hotel without trying too hard vibe. Room was nice and comfortable, beach was gorgeous, fun waves. Food was good (if a lil pricey) and service was great. Perfect place to chill for a long weekend but I don’t think you can stay for too long here.

PortugalWi-Fi connection was beyond irregular. Frequently, whole evenings without connection. There was no TV in the sea chalet. We may not have needed it, but nowadays, it is almost a must, particularly in a 4-5 star hotel. The air conditioning blew directly on the bed. The fish restaurant (Fisherman's Cove) had a charming atmosphere but was nouvelle cuisine with all the implicit adjectives, often controversial content, and relatively expensive. The range of breakfast food was somewhat limited for a Westerner's taste, and the same might be said for the dinner. Curries were below the standard of an excellent Indian or Thai curry. The supper system, whereby one had to choose between buffet or "a la carte," was quite confusing. For example, I got the impression that to get a salad with a prechosen dish; one had to pay for a whole buffet (since the salads were part of the buffet). Counterintuitive. The same, apparently, was true for the dessert, which was again part of the buffet. The island could offer a few extra amenities (e.g. archery, darts).
Some occidental dishes were virtually perfect (e.g., Italian pasta). On the other hand, the food (lunch) was extremely pleasant at the beach restaurant. On the flip side, there were some annoying aspects at dinner in the main restaurant cf. below). Shuttle transport (small vans) worked rather well - you can ask for them anytime through a network of linked intercom phones. The top aspect was the warm and friendly behavior of all the island's personnel. I had been in Kuala Lumpur a week before, and it think this could be said about the Malaysian people as a whole. We feel welcome everywhere.

ItalyEverything was superb. We stayed at the hill villa, truly surrounded by the forest. The room itself was absolutely amazing; a special mention goes to the bathroom: so spacious with both the shower and a panoramic tab. An absolute value added has been the staff: great guys always friendly, welcoming and ready to support. Moreover, restoration was superb: our absolute favorite has been Fishermen’s cove but also Uncle Lim is a gem.

AustraliaThe Jungle path requires some renovation and maintenance, and restoration of timber structures is an ongoing necessity to arrest decline.
Luxuriously fitted and generous sized accommodation high amongst the trees and vines with easy accessibility and wonderful views. A great place to unwind, eat, read and swim with a choice of locations.

AustraliaThere was some litter on the beach, not enough to ruin our experience, but could be quickly fixed by staff first thing in the mornings. Only other sight criticism was the duvet in our room had a hole in it so feathers escaped when we shook it out. Again quick fix for housekeeping to repair or replace
Food, location, staff, massages all excellent. We’ll laid out resort, very peaceful

I stayed at garden view, and it was an absolutely wonderful experience. The resort itself is beautiful, with stunning views of the ocean and beautifully landscaped gardens. The amenities offered were top-notch, the gourmet dining options. One of the highlights of my stay was the outstanding service provided by the staff, especially Mr Mahes and all majority staff . All went above and beyond to ensure that every aspect of my stay was perfect. I highly recommend this private beach Resort to anyone looking for a relaxing and luxurious getaway. Thank you, all the entire team for making my stay so special. I look forward to returning in the future.
