food can be rather mediocre in some of the on-site “ premium” restaurants, one is better off sticking to the buffet restaurant which does not come at an extra charge whilst the food offers variety of generally good standard

great amenities including wide variety of water sports , beautiful spa and tennis courts. breakfast buffet offers good variety . the staff are generally friendly and helpful

There were kayaks available only from 11:30. Staff was there every day from around 10:00. We would love to go there when it is not so hot. Why is it not available? Strange. Also, for volleyball, you have to go to the sport center everytime. Leave a ball at a bar or a few of them at kayaks. Also strange.

Starting from the rooms, which were given to us as we had a baby were perfect. Close to dinner place, close to the beach and children's area. The cleaning staff did they work at a very high level. The food was great on all days we stayed. Especially meat and fish. A lot of things to do at the place and free activities all around. Bar staff was superb.

The buffet dinner was average. Itc could certainly be improved. It was also very difficult to book a table at the a la carte restaurants at the resort.We only succeeded once booking a la carte and the food and service at the Sirous restaurant was very good.

Beautiful nature, smiling and professional, personel, lots of free activities Especially the people working in both of the boat houses took very good care of us and we learnt a lot about the beautiful but fragile ecosystem of the coral reef thanks to their devotion and love for this ecosystem.

Staff Bed Room

First of all - the area is stunning! Beautiful beaches with crystal clear water. Would absolutly recommend it. But the rooms could get a makeover. Furniture is really old and the bed was the most uncomfortable one I had in Mauritius plus it was so much used, that you could see a hole in the matress. The good thing was that we got a new one after asking for it. But I would expect a higher standart for that price. Food was delicious but the staff was not well trained, unorganized and very chaotic. Having breakfast, lunch and dinner was always stessfull because every 2 minutes an other waiter came to ask what we want or if everything is fine. After some time it was very annoying. But beside that I would recommend this place because of the beautiful and relaxing area.

What a fabulous place and so close to the airport! It was great for getting over Jetlag. The rooms are very nice and the layout is wonderful. The reef was in excellent shape and we snorkeled for an hour plus every day. We took a day tour to Southwest and one to the north island before catching a cruise ship. I would definitely recommend this resort for a few days. The varied restaurants were enjoyable though I didn’t care much for the food. It did not have enough spice for me. I strongly recommend making dinner reservations in advance of arrival in order to avoid the buffet and kids. Wines and beer were reasonably priced considering the resort. The beach was beautiful and staff are very friendly.

Drinks are totally over-priced and inconsistent in volume (we only had soft drinks and juices). The charge for a cold drink was literally four/five times the normal retail price.

There was really nothing I didn't like. The only thing that was off-putting was a large group of very noisy people who were obviously celebrating something. They were oblivious to other holiday-makers and just acted like hooligans screaming , shouting, swearing in the restaurant, on the beach and in the bar. They were all adults in terms of their ages, but they acted like spoilt little children who wanted to loudly enjoy their time at the hotel ( about 5 days ) at the expense of other people. Apart from that everything else was fantastic.

I enjoyed the whole experience. There was really nothing I didn't like. My room was spacious and comfortable and it was kept clean and tidy by the housekeeping staff every day. The main restaurant is a lovely open-air place, and the waiters, chefs and other staff were without exception warm and friendly with a smile ready all the time. The Thai restaurant is excellent. The bar-staff were really hard-working, and they remembered many people's choices of drink from one day to the next. They were kept really busy during the day as well as in the evenings. The gardens are lovely...so much greenery, trees and shrubs. It is so lovely to stroll through the gardens to and from the beach and hearing all the birdsong. I loved my holiday in Mauritius and I loved staying at the Shandrani. I will definitely be going back there again...I hope !

This is a beautiful large resort with three beaches and two good size pools. The room was comfortable with a nice sea view. The food and service was fabulous for an all inclusive.

Nothing to complain about. We enjoyed our stay and the resort met our expectations.

Beautiful resort, very spacious and fantastic layout. The two pool areas on opposite ends of the long beach ensures it never felt crowded for us. The main dining area served delicious local and international food, we particularly enjoyed the seafood and Mauritian local themed evening. The staff was very friendly and helpful, going the extra mile on a number of occasions.

We participated on two boat trips to the central parts of the protected coral area, and noticed rather large areas with dead corals. The reasons for this may be many, but the boat activity in the area was rather heavy for a protected area, and should probably be lowered. Quite a number of boats at one part of the hotel beach. The hotel grounds were nice, with birds and fruit bats in the trees, but would be even nicer if some areas were allowed to develop into a less park-looking wilderness with even more species of plants and animals. The lack of insects indicate that the grounds were treated with bug repellents, which is not very environment friendly.

We chose this hotel because of its proximity to the Blue Bay marine protected area and the coral areas accessible directly from the hotel beach. Corals in good condition only 5 meters from the seashore (at the closest) with plenty of small fish, and other coral species and bigger fish further out. The restaurants were great, with excellent cooks and staff, and room cleaning spotless.
