Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

LatviaSPA zone is rather small. Salt room is a useless thing, would prefer a steam room instead. Sauna was switching off and didn’t warm up properly, so this should be improved. Pool was a good size with warm water that would be great for families with kids.
Great place to stay - location, breakfast and restaurant. Comfy beds and rooms are quite tiny, but comfortable. Outstanding service.

LatviaThe view towards the port is a bit of a let down but to no fault of the hotel. The town is too small to invest in proper rennovation of the port and demolition of the old Soviet occupation period port facility buildings. Also the parking lot in front of the hotel could be paved otherwise it is an unsightly and dusty entrance to a wonderful and high class hotel
The hotel is modern, clean, boutique sized, excellent and friendly staff, incredible breakfast. Amaaazing dinner. Great and very high quality cocktails. A master masseur in staff.

LatviaSpa has two saunas, one (salt) did not work. Spa is very simple, pool with one sauna, it’s nice - but don’t have too big expectations.
Great location, free parking space right in front of the hotel. Dog friendly! They offer free coffee to all guests. Very nice and friendly staff. Wine hour for all the guests. The breakfast was amazing! Overall cozy atmosphere. During dinner duck was baked medium rare, but after I asked they baked it well done (thanks to the kind staff).

LatviaOnly note is about the shower - it can overflow. We used the floor towel to reduce this.
The service was excellent. The staff makes an extra effort to ensure you enjoy your stay. We really enjoyed the breakfasts, and the dinners we had. We also enjoyed the afternoon wine.

LatviaMenu for the dinner could be with more choice of food! Morning organised trainings on the roof could be earlier - complex to adjust to the breakfast timing! Our personal issue - not the minus!
Professional staff, attitude and service! At the moment best hotel in Pavilosta and cities nearby! Would stay there more and more! Breakfast - great! Pet friendly! Pool and SPA!

United KingdomIt was quite expensive for Latvia, but it was high quality.
A super hotel in a pretty location. Very helpful and lovely staff who kindly let us lock our bikes in the conference room overnight. Our room was comfortable with a great bathroom. We ate dinner and breakfast in the restaurant, and both were excellent.

LatviaThe place presents itself as a top-class establishment and puts in a lot of effort, but there are some areas that need improvement and attention: 1. If the sauna is not working, it would be great if they offered a complimentary bottle of wine that is served during the wine hour. Fortunately, the sauna was fixed before late evening, so it was not a major issue for me. However, it would be a nice gesture. 2. There are doors between the rooms that worsen sound insulation. If you can hear your neighbours, chances are they can hear you too. 3A. Wine Hour seemed like a peculiar event. The staff should be trained to talk about the wines and promote them, rather than simply saying: 'Our owner has decided to offer these bottles for free. Wine is from Portugal.' They should share stories, show photos, and sell us on the experience. Come on! 3B. The food menu should include aperitivo fare, such as crackers, olives, meats, cheeses, and bread. 4. The design of the restaurant's menu needs improvement. It doesn't match the quality of the place and the deliciousness of the food. 5. Overall, the price for the accommodations is higher than it should be. However, considering it's a top-class place in the middle of nowhere and usually fully booked in summer, I can't really complain. I would still charge the same amount.
1. The breakfast was truly delicious, offering a range of options from eggs to spinach-banana shots. It was perfect! The restaurant itself is quite good, although the portions are not very large. 2. The beds are very comfortable 3. The sauna is hot and dry, providing a relaxing experience. The swimming pool is also quite good. 4. The real hidden gem of the place is the roof terrace 5. We really liked the stylish design and excellent navigation throughout the entire hotel.
