Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

SwitzerlandThe bathroom was dirty when I arrived in the room. There was trash and hair on the floor. The "queen" bed was made of two single beds put together, so there was a gap in between.
Beautiful building, large bedroom, elegant common areas, great location.

United KingdomCurtains were missing and we had to ask for them to be put up. Had to ask for pillows too as were given two tiny, thin pillows for two people in a giant bed. Also some cleanliness issues.

PolandIt would be great to have some breakfast at the hotel though there are many nice places nearby
The property is this beautiful old villa with beautiful and rustic rooms and furniture. Even though we didn’t get the chance to use the lounge room with fireplace or the bar.. the hotel is one of a kind and we can’t wait to stay there again

LithuaniaThe windows are very small so there is almost no light coming in and you have to have lights on all the time.
The room was spacious and cozy and there was everything you might need for a short stay (tea and coffee tray with a kettle; a small fridge; shampoo, conditioner, shower gel in the bathroom and other basic necessities). Great location.

SloveniaThe description of the hotel has convinced me to book it as it's in an old building. It is an amazing building but unfortunately it has no soul. I know it's self check in but such a huge hotel should have staff and some life in the common space. It's a pity there is no exit to the garden as it look really amazing and you can see there was a bar in the hotel The rooms at the top floor have really small windows so you need to switch on the light also during the day. The carpets in the room and the halls have seen better days. As they are newly reopened I believe they will bring the soul into the hotel and would love to stay there then
Amazing building. Good location, walking distance to old town and close to the train and bus station. Water cattle and complimentary coffee and tea. Communication and instructions for self-check in were good, no problems there.

IndiaThe cleaning person was not coming daily, we need to inform beforehand in case we want cleaning. It was a bit inconvenient for me.
It’s old European style architecture.

EstoniaThere is room for improvement, for example all the lamps in the room (ceiling + bedside) could only be turned on and off at the same time (or we couldn't find a way to do it despite looking), and there was only one armchair in a double room so even though there was a desk, you couldn't sit at it; and only three hangers in the wardrobe. But there was a wardrobe with hangers, which is positive in itself!
The hotel is in an impressive building in a splendid location. In general, we enjoyed our stay, mostly because the beds were very comfortable (very!) and the personal hygiene products were a lovely quality and smelled wonderful. There was also a nice bathtub in the bathroom. It was also very quiet and peaceful despite it being on a busy street. There was an electric kettle and tea available.

GermanyThe Benjamin House was one of the best accommodations I ever booked. The house itself incredibly pretty and could almost be a tourist attraction itself. It is located in the center of the town and in very short walking distance of the train station and all the sights of the old town. There are great restaurants nearby and even a tea house in the park right next to the accommodation. The check-in and check-out processes were also very easy and quick. I would come back to stay here every time I come back to Rīga.

IrelandI wouldn’t really have a problem except maybe the small windows in my room, but I guess they are there to add to the characteristic of the building

United KingdomThis was a super opportunity to stay in this beautiful atmospheric historic hotel. I stayed for one night then returned for two more nights. I was sent detailed instructions for check in and it was very easy. There is a staff member present in case of difficulties. The hotel is a large imposing stone building opposite the park in central Riga. Inside the hotel, yes, the miles of carpets are a little faded but the amazing interiors and rooms exude character and atmosphere, and of course it is immaculately clean, and quiet. Great value too. I loved it! Highly recommended.
