The accommodation is close to the road and is surprisingly busy for such a small road almost all day, noise start early. For us, as we woke up early for surfing and no-napping was not a big problem, but it is something to keep in mind if you are looking for something really quiet.

We initially had a reservation for 10 days and ended up staying a month. The family is lovely, they share everything they have and try to help you in every way possible. We had all the privacy we wanted and at the same time we were able to include ourselves in all the activities they did, sharing meals, celebrations... If you prefer your space, they are respectful and not noisy (even with 2 children and 2 pets!) With the included breakfast we tried a large number of typical dishes! and we were always able to have them when we returned from surfing (or whenever we want) We share the kitchen with them, there are enough utensils and a good pan. We also rent a motorcycle with them, at a fair price.

Nothing - this is definitely one place I want to come back to in the future - maybe even next year!

Renuk and his family are so welcoming and made my stay in Sri Lanka for a week so enjoyable. I appreciate everything they did for me. They always went out of their way to make sure everything was great. A few days during my stay I joined them for market shopping in Ahangama and Wellinggama and also had lunch at their place instead of having to walk. Renuk was always there to take me surfing in his Tuk Tuk in the morning. You ask to get fresh coconuts and bananas and water and food and anything else you may need. It’s like coming home to your Sri Lankan family each day and for me that was perfect! Note that the place is basic but has everything you need and the family and company makes up for the things.

Big clean room with fan and private bathroom. Basic but good enough for the really cheap price !!! Nice little breakfast in the morning, host will help you with whatever you need, he also as a tuk tuk if you need and do fair price as well :) Perfect location if you are a surfer, with great surf spots and also restaurants nearby. It's on the main road so it gets busy and noisy during the day but very quiet at night !!! And most of the time you will probably be at the beach so who cares ? :)

The hostfamily is super friendly, kind and helpful! The garden has lots of flowers and trees providing natural shade and a nice atmosphere very well enjoyable in the given hammock. Plus - breakfast is included and you are a 1 minute walk away from the beautiful Wild beach. Would definitely go here again :)

I have stayed in this very nice homestay for 2 weeks. I had a clean private room for a very honest price, just in front of the beach. The family is lovely and helpful every each one of them. Spent amazing time with them having delicious dinners and spending Christmas together. Highly recommended! See you soon guys!

good place to stay at. i kept extending my stay the room is very simple but it’s clean and comfortable. good value for the money. the shower had the best pressure i had so far in sri lanka the owners sre very kind and helpful. always smiling and friendly. they received me with a juice for welcome and the breakfast is also very tasty.

Room is really big and also the bed is big and comfy. Breakfast was nice, everyday something different and always ready when you come back from a morning session (or also before if you want). I also liked that you don't have to walk through the owners rooms like in a lot of other homestays. The rooms have their separate entrance.

Super relaxing with a very spacious room with my own bathroom. Had lot of privacy but also spent some time with the family. They are really nice, cute and helpful. The breakfast is also pretty good and a great option for after surfing. The place is walking distance to many surf spots and you can also ask the owner to take you to other more distant spots by tuk tuk.

Spent a couple weeks here at colonial and safe to say they were some of the best weeks you can have. Reno and his family are just the best and everything you need help with he will be there. Access to beaches, breaks and midigama shops is all perfect so would recommend this stay to anyone!

I had an amazing stay here! Like others wrote, the facilities are basic and the bathroom could need a little make over, but the big bed is super comfortable and the room had everything I needed. What made my stay here unforgettable is the little family that takes care of you and does everything to make you feel nice and comfortable, surprises you with a cup of tea here and there and even let you take part in cultural things if you want to (had a beautiful trip to the temple with them). Both the included breakfast and the dinner you can order additionally are delicious and versatile. I’d definitely like to come again!

Friendly and very welcoming family. Everything was clean and my room was very big. Breakfast was very nice. I had also dinner with my friends, one of the best rice and curry that we had. It's worth to try. The accomodation is very basic as they are a poor family, so don't expect any luxury. Good value overall.
