Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Clean. Good use of space in the room. Quiet. Loved having access to shared kitchen and dining area. Often we were the only ones in there. Staff were very helpful. Great access to train lines. Ueno Park is also very close-by. Great for family stay.

AustraliaKeep in mind this is a youth hostel so you need to make your own beds etc. Rooms are quite small if you have large luggage (we didn’t).
Great location for the price. We were looking for somewhere near ueno station on a budget and this fit perfectly for our family of five, close enough to ueno to walk (about a kilometre) but far enough away to be a bit quieter. Other smaller stations are close by and we used these mostly. Rooms were clean and attached bathroom was great (if small!). Staff were lovely. Kitchen amenities provided on a different floor so we didn’t use those, but hot water and a fridge provided on our floor as well which was super handy. Really enjoyed our four nights here.

IndonesiaThe room tend to be on the smaller size (though this is expected) and barely any tables to put our stuff on, so it can get messy very quickly.
Great location - close to a couple subway stations (5-8 mins walking distance), easy to find, nearby a couple of konbinis and several shops. Super clean. Great service. There's a shared kitchen in the 1st floor with enough amenities (though it can get crowded during meal times)

This is our second time staying here. We are a family of four and were delighted on check in to find that we are in a bigger room with 4 bunks and one sofa bed. There was also a desk and you can request a lamp from the reception. The bathroom was a good size, and the bidet/toilet was the best. We had 4 cabin roller bags and there was plenty of space for them. You are also able to grab towels from the reception for free, and umbrellas for free if it is raining. The location was great as it was walking distance to a couple train/metro stations, with Ueno Keisi about 8-10 minute walk. Also, about a 10 minute walk to Akihabara (electronic town). The Ueno zoo was around 12 minute walk. There are many restaurants, and mini marts within walking distance. The nearest being family mart about 2 minutes away. The front desk staff were very friendly and helpful. A bonus is they kept our bags for several hours before we checked in. They also provide free detergent to wash your clothes in the machines which are on the same level as the reception. This is our go to place whenever we are in Tokyo and we will definitely be back again! Thank you for your hospitality!

United StatesLocation was very convenient, just walk a few blocks to Ueno Park, 10 min to the Keisei Skyliner direct train to airport, 10 min to Ameyoko market for delicious street food and inexpensive souvenirs, easy subway connections to everywhere else in Tokyo. During rush hour we could get to Tokyo Station in 15 minutes. We got a room for 4 people, and it was nice to have privacy curtains. They held our luggage after we checked out so we could go sightseeing our last day. The communal kitchen included a microwave, toaster oven, and hot water dispenser. And each floor had a hot water heater and microwave too.

ItalyNothing whatsoever.
The location is perfect for a number of reasons: especially if you are arriving from Narita airport the hostel is 10 max 15 minutes walk from the station where the Keisei skyline arrives. There are an additional 2 metro stations, one is within 10 minutes the other just around the corner. The street where the hostel is located is really tranquil but 5 to 10 minutes away there is an amazing variety of places to eat, drink and shop. The hostel feels more like a hotel. It is very modern, comfortable, clean and the staff are all so very friendly and welcoming and speak good English.

Good location in an area close to many restaurants, a train station, a beautiful park and one of Japans best museums. Quiet rooms with windows you can open. This hostel is perfect for groups of friends or families with teenage children wanting to keep costs low to spend on shopping or attractions. Remember to pack light, big bags are not good.
