The accommodation felt homey, and the hospitality was top-notch. The owner drove us to the bus stop, though it was only a 3-minute drive but the thought that matters. Will definitely come back on my next visit!!

The app for the 2 outdoor private onsens is a bit faulty and may show its occupied when they're not. So best to just check in person, there'll be shoes outside or the door will be locked if they're occupied.

We had such an amazing time here. The dinner was so special and delicious, the breakfast was a lovely way to start the day with the river air refreshing us. The onsens and our room were perfect.

We stayed two nights in the room with the private open air bath on the balcony, it was such a great experience, from the place itself to the private Onsens available on the property to the traditional clothing provided for the guests, and the amazing breakfast we had by the river. Staff were very friendly and helpful, they made us feel very welcomed there. It is also easily reached by public transportation, which is a small adventure by itself.

Not the hotel's fault, ofcourse, but we got there quite late the first day on a weekday and we couldn't have dinner at the hotel anymore (it also was quite pricey, and my partner isn't great with fish, so that was ok) but keep in mind that there's barely any food options close to the hotel. 80% was closed, very traditional, or was there on Google maps but not in real life ^^" We end up having to eat conbini food 2 days in a row due to this, pretty much everything in the area seems to be mostly open only around fri/sat/sun.

Everything was amazing! The onsen in the room, the onsens outside of it, the service, the friendliness of the staff, the little prodivided onigiri snack that was brought to your room, and the breakfast on the riverside underneath the kotatsu.

The only con was transportation ti/from the ryokan to Shuzenji station. We used a taxi each way because we couldn't figure out the bus route. But I have read other reviews where they had no issue. So I guess it depends on the person.

The facility was extremely comfortable & relaxing. We loved the open air bath & unfortunately didn't get to try the private baths. I didn't want to leave it's so beautiful. Customer service was awesome. Breakfast & dinner by the river was a nice experience & filling. FYI: If you don't like fish all that much, you may opt out of dinner. The 2nd night we did have more beef. Fruits were yummy. We look forward to visiting again!

Not an issue for us, but this may be a bit tricker to get to and get around if you don’t have a hire car.

This property was lovely and just what we needed after a couple of nights in Tokyo. The staff were so helpful and welcoming, and spoke enough English to assist. They went out of their way to make our stay fantastic. We weren’t able to enjoy the meals due to dietary requirements, but they still dropped off complimentary onigiri for my husband. There’s a 7/11 nearby if you need supplies. The onsen baths were so relaxing, with 4 private baths to chose from as well as public baths. Topped off by opening the window and listening to the river as we drifted off the sleep. Seriously couldn’t recommend Tatsuta Ryoken enough, thank you!

I wanted to ask the front desk about some services but they weren't at the desk. Also, it was a little hard to find.

The food was probably the best I had in my life. The private onsens were beautiful and relaxing. The room was so spacious and had lots of toiletries and amenities.

The customer service at Tatsuta is truly exceptional. Every staff member goes above and beyond to make your stay memorable. In particular, I must mention Deki, whose warm and attentive service added a personal touch to our stay. The food is nothing short of spectacular. Every meal was a delightful journey of flavors, beautifully presented. The kaiseki meals were a highlight, and the use of local, seasonal ingredients was evident in every bite. It's a culinary experience that will linger in your memory

The river is very noisy but it is a natural sound so we managed to mentally block it so we had no issue sleeping.

The renovated rooms combined the modern with the traditional. It was very spacious, the hot spring tub in the room was a big plus, but we also made use of the free private baths. The food served was with high quality ingredients and with a lot of variety, although for an european some dishes are very strange. Nevertheless it was an experience worth trying. The area around is very beautiful and peaceful.

To get to the property you have to take a bus from Shuzenji which is only serviced by a local train from Mishima. Takes a long time to get there and back—governed by a train/ bus schedule. I recommend that you go to the Shuzenji information office in Shuzenji Station and have them call for shuttle service at Yugashima. I didn’t. The road to the onsen was fairly busy when I used it and it’s narrow and slippery in spots. It rained when I was leaving so I was lucky to have the shuttle take me to the bus stop. There are no signs in English showing you the way, even the hotel sign was in Japanese. The main road runs through the middle of the town and there weren’t many shopping areas. It was difficult to get to the baths and dining areas at first because they were at the end of the corridors and down some steps I had to use the map they’d given me or I’d get lost.

It was rural—next to nature. In an onsen region of Shuzenji. Next to a rushing river. Eat outdoors on a balcony next to the river. Chef/ food was excellent- plentiful Japanese cuisine . Staff was courteous and friendly. Room was large—Japanese style. If your bedding was too hard you could add another layer from the closet. It had unique bathing areas—you could stay indoors or bathe indoors and walk outdoors to either a bamboo grove or a tree, river scene hut where you could soak.

Private bathhouses can be a bit bigger as well as expanded. It was still great, as they provided a live status feed to see if it was occupied or not, with no extra charge to use.

The staff was absolutely amazing and attentive. We had a great view of the river from our room balcony. We had both the breakfast and dinner and it was amazing as well as the atmosphere around the meal with the amazing view of the river. We will definitely return in the future.

There is not much around, you have to drive a long distance to most of Izu's attractions. The main onsen is a little bit plain for such a high-level hotel.

Great room overlooking the river, great variety of private onsens and a huge breakfast while sitting next to the river. Definitely a highlight of our trip to Izu.

The 5-course meal was a lot of food. A couple of the courses, such as the fish, could have been better. Some of the private baths were out of the way to get to and not as convenient or as nice as the in-room bath.
