The owner is very kind and very helpful. Listen to his recommendations, and you will see the best of Takayama. The room is great, spacious, and comfortable. It can be a bit cold in the morning, but there are extra blankets. It's a traditional house; if you want to experience a super friendly atmosphere, don't hesitate!

Everything was perfect

Stylish room, very clean and quite. The manager Octavio is really nice and helpful, he offered us saké and information. Even he offered to take us to the station when we were leaving. The hotel is at walking distance from the best locations in Takayama. Room is large and charming, chamber dresses kimono style were available. Toilette Is shared but perfect. Recommended! It was the cherry on the cake for our stay in Takayama.

While having to book the shower is a practical system for avoiding conflict, it was a bit cumbersome and we found it inconvenient to have to decide when to shower the day before. In reality, a system where you may have to wait a bit is probably a better fit for us.

Our host was very kind and gracious throughout our stay, going the extra mile at every point such as driving us to the station early for our train. The guest house was well situated, right near the shrines and closeby to the old streets. It was generally comfortable but not overly stylish.

Defenitely one of the best places we have been to during our travels. The host is great :-) many thanks Octavio for the warm welcome, you made us feel at home - cosy, warm rooms, welcoming with nice special treats, very clean, close to beautiful temples in a nice, quite residential area. We would love to come back one day!

Nothing. I would ultimately have liked another pillow but I didn’t ask as we were only staying one night but I’m sure whatever you needed, the host would go out of his way to help you. He’s amazing!! Although I’d say if you are not physically able, the stairs up to the bedroom are very steep so avoid if stairs are a problem.

The host. He was very welcoming, friendly and kind. He gave us hot tea and sake on arrival and walked us through what we could see whilst we were in Takayama. The property was spotlessly clean and warm. It was a very cold day and it was lovely to have warm accommodation.

Very friendly and helpful host. Quaint little place with a very tranquil sitting room, perfect for contemplation. No issues with the shared bath as there is a booking system, which makes it efficient.

Only small negative point is the way to the train station but as it was raining when we get back Octavio even drive us to the station.

It was overall perfect, the host welcomed us very friendly and you get the feeling he really tries to make it a special stay for you (ninja house). We loved the room and it didnt make any problem to have the toilet outside the room cause its quite near and not many using it. The area around is really awesome. It was our best stay in Japan and we would come again if we ever get the chance to. Arrigatou gozaimasu, Octavio-san.

We had a wonderful stay at the accommodation, the host was very friendly and helpful, everything was clean. In the morning he would prepare fresh coffee for us as an extra service. The last day he brought us to the translation by car which was very friendly! Loved everything, would certainly recommend this accommodation. Location is perfect, you can walk easily around in the area. Thank you! It was great.

There is only one shower for all people staying in the house. It's a 10-15 minute walk away from the heart of the city where the restaurants are.

The house is a very small, quaint house with an excellent atmosphere. The rooms were spacious and the beds very comfortable. Because there is only space for 2-3 groups to stay, it felt very intimate. Staff was friendly and helpful in giving advice and explaining nearby restaurants.

With a hostel like feel, the Ninja house is perfect for young travelers, or a group of young travelers. It is well situated within Takayama, being fairly central to everything. The walk from the station is simple enough, but can be a distance if you aren't used to it. The host was great, spoke very reasonable english, and was able to guide me through things to see, do, and eat. The room I got was great, slightly larger than what I expected. You are in a traditional house, so make sure you are up for sleeping on a futon. The ninja house is situated on a quiet side street, so noise isn't an issue. Clean, orderly, and tidy as with most places in Japan.
