Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

SingaporeWe arrived at 2pm and requested for early check-in since the regular check-in time was 3pm. However we were told that early check-in was chargeable, even though it was just 1 hour earlier. There was no servicing of the room even though we stayed for 3 nights. Hotel policy is room servicing only for 4 nights and above. This meant that we needed to put our towels and garbage outside the room every morning for staff to clear.
5 min walking distance to Matsumoto station. Shopping and restaurants all around within 5min walking distance. Welcome drink in the afternoon and free coffee in the mornings. Good sized rooms, we had the family room with 4 beds. Comfortable beds and pillows.

The location was very convenient, near to bus station. There were many food options around the area. The hotel was very new and clean, and the room was pretty spacious by Japan hotel standard. In addition, i like that there was a hot public bath to utilize.

AustraliaModern hotel in Matsumoto approximately 5 minutes walk from the train station and an easy walk to Matsumoto Castle. Service was lovely and very helpful. Inclusions at the hotel were great with happy hour drink included in the evening and goodies for female guests plus toiletries as needed. The rooms themselves were tiny but incredibly well laid out, modern, super clean and fine for a two night stay (with minimal luggage). I also commend the hotel for the recommendation to do a day trip to Kamikochi in the Alpine region. It was a highlight of our trip to Japan!

JapanNo parking lot but しょうがない! The KOYOEN parking lot directly behind the hotel was only 900円 a night for me!
Everything was perfect. The hotel is beautiful and spacious. My room was accommodated to fit three guests. The beds are very comfortable. The breakfast was very delicious with so much variety. The staff is very kind and helpful. The onsen was my favorite. I love when hotels provide the little carrying bag to take all your stuff back and forth between your room and the bath. The onsen is very gorgeous and they provide so many good beauty products to use for a comfortable bath. I also love when they provide free ice pops. The front desks also provides you with masks and lotions. The free cafeteria snacks and drinks are also a very nice touch. Would definitely stay here again.

NetherlandsVery modern hotel conveniently located close to the train station. The room was bigger than we were used to in Japan and it even included a small seating area. The check-in was a bit busy due to a larger group arriving, but the friendly staff and the complementary drinks/coffee that are available in the hotel more than made up for that! The many amnities made this hotel excellent value for money!

United StatesThe staff had difficulty handling a very large group of other guests. They were clearly untrained and understaffed to handle such a large unruly group. They were unprepared for our 13 member group’s arrival even though I called them in advance to give them our arrival time. Check in for us was chaotic and stressful. Staff were very unprofessional during the next morning’s breakfast and at one point yelled at another guest while standing near me while I was trying to enjoy my breakfast. In my 30 years of leading small tours in Japan, I’ve never encountered such an unwelcoming arrival and breakfast situation.

United StatesBed was very hard but the hotel provided a light cushioned mattress pad upon request which helped somewhat. Lighting in room was a bit dark. An added light to facilitate make up and/working at the counter/desk area would be great.

Czech RepublicThe hotel is close to the station. The staff were very nice and they even helped us to send our luggages to the next hotel. I enjoyed delicious breakfast while looking out of the window. It was nice to have a little table and a sofa in the room because I don’t like eating in the bed. We also washed our clothes in the washing machine. You could see congestion status in the TV in your room.
