Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

JapanNo restaurant on site which was informed in advance but would love to have one for those who stay longer. The place is a bit outdated and needs renovation. Worn out futon beds which definitely requires replacement.
Ease of access on the main road in an Onsen town. Welcoming staff. Standard amenities. Massage chair. Good onsen. Lots of choice from vending machine. Bento for purchase.

JapanThe room a little bit dirty and have dust also in the glasses. Since I booked with the breakfast that cost 1000 yen per person compared to the room only, and the breakfast quality same to the konbini bento, so it is kind not really worthed.
I love the onsen tamago and also the onsen. Other things the staff is quite helpful

JapanAlthough the property was good overall, they do not have a restaurant or buffet. It was difficult trying to find a decent and good restaurant nearby.
My family and I enjoyed the onsen provided in the property. It was calm and relaxing, fulfilled our expectations.

JapanSometimes insects would be inside the room or in the lights. Not many places nearby for food so make sure to bring what you need, if so then no worries.
Outdoor Onsen was nice and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Enjoyed the little game centre as well. The nearby bridge and river was a nice little walk. The hotel is out of the way but with a car it's totally fine.

JapanThere are 3 car parkings for this hotel. 2 of those are in front or in back of the hotel, but rest 1 is in far place so should be unconfortable to use. Fortunately I was in No.2 parking, but if it was No.3, I might be exhausted.
The room was good than I expected. Not new, but well cleaned and wide enough. I didn't have breakfast and dinner so no comments about those.

JapanThere wasn’t any vegetarian food. I had booked including breakfast and I paid the money but didn’t take breakfast. This was the only issue as I planned considering this option was little problem at last moment. But this can be ignored as other services are amazing. Also if they could provide some water bottles would be great just a recommendation

JapanThe outdoor hot spring was not hot enough. There was no buffet-style breakfast (due to covid) and instead guests were given their choice of frozen 'bento'. This was not made clear on the website when booking the hotel.
The room was pretty good - decent size and clean. The amusement area had some fun things to do. The onsen was good as there was an outdoor hot spring. Staff were helpful.

TaiwanOn day two of our stay, cigarette smoke was very prominent on our floor, even though we were on a non-smoking floor, the smell came into the room, and staff was unable to do anything about it. I felt very frustrated about the whole smoking ordeal. The bento, which I had looked forward to was not the quality that I expected. It was microwaved dinner quality. I went in thinking it was on-site kitchen prepared. Perhaps it was on-site kitchen prepared previously but COVID took its toll. So I would recommend not eating the microwave obento. Also the vending machines did not have pocari in stock when we were there, if you are craving pocari after onsen, I recommend getting your own before you get there. There isn't much within walking distance, so make sure you drive there.
Right off the bat, there was a small arcade area off to the side of the reception area, which was nice for both the kids and the adults. You can play after the onsen, during various waiting times. The onsen was nice and cozy, the indoor and outdoor one were both good temperatures. The feature was moisturizing, so that was nice. I really like sleeping in onsen hotels on tatami mats, their bedding is always comfy, fluffy and warm. The staff was nice, they didn't make a fuss when my kids tore up the paper window shutters, I was horrified and was prepared to pay for the damages, but they didn't charge us extra for that, nor did they charge us extra for clean up service, when they informed us that we didn't pay for clean up service.

BrazilThe place is a bit old but clean and well-maintained, and for its value, it is totally worth it. However, it is worth considering that it does not have many amenities above the basics (I lost my hairbands, and they couldn`t provide me anything to cover my hair, which was a bit of an inconvenience in the onsen). Since the place is so far from everything, it is good to prepare in advance. The onsen was nice, but the water was not hot enough for me. Most onsens I've been to before were definitely warmer than this.
The place was better than expected. The rooms were big and comfortable, traditional Ryokan style. The hotel is clean, and they sell food for a reasonable price; considering how hard it is to find combines around, this is very convenient. They also have a game centre, billiard and table tennis.
