Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United States of AmericaWe had dinner and breakfast included in our stay. It is a set menu so it might not be the best for everyone. We were traveling with two children. Luckily there were fries and edamame on the additional drink menu which we could order separately for our toddler.
The location is breathtaking, right on the lake. Mount Fuji came out during our visit and we were so pleased. The onsen is a bit of a walk from the rooms, but so wonderful with the outdoor area overlooking the lake.

United States of AmericaMenu was amazing but only if you love fish. English translation was unavailable except using Google Lens so it was difficult to know in advance. We were able to apply our subsequent meals to the partner Prince Hotel nearby property which has a buffet with variety of breakfast foods as an alternative.
Beautiful property and surrounding areas. Staff was kind and friendly. Awesome view of Fuji from this room 101. Pictures of this room type are accurate except that the private bath doesn’t have a clear window - it is frosted glass for privacy. The lake view is from the main room. Other room orientations may differ.

United States of AmericaOur room with a private onsen was great and we loved the view even though it was too cloudy to really see Mount Fuji. We wanted a traditional ryokan experience and this was it from the tatami mats to the sliding painted panels. The kaiseki dinners were very fancy (eight courses) as were the Japanese breakfasts.

United KingdomIt would have been good to have had some Western food options. For some people, although beautifully presented, the cold raw fish and Japanese pickles may not suit everyone.
Overall, we enjoyed the traditional Japanese culture. The location is excellent for this purpose and also great for boat trips, viewing Mount Fuji and enjoying the onsen experience. Very spacious rooms with kitchen facilities.

United States of AmericaRestaurant staff members were 10+ but the traditional japanese food is not for everyone. Looks really pretty but to younger adults that grew up in the US was not satisfying. We could have chosen the American food but we wanted to try the traditional Japanese food. Everything else was superb.
Staff members were very professional and friendly. Loved the location and the shuttle service. We had our private onsen which we used many times a day.

United States of AmericaThe meal was just OK. There were many, many courses (too much food for me), but the quality was just average. For the price I paid, it was not a good value. Also, potential guests should note that this is a traditional Japanese meal, very heavy on fish/sea creatures—if you don’t like seafood, don’t get the half board. There were people in the dining room eating other things (and dressed in street clothes), so I believe there might be an a-la-carte menu for people not staying there.
The ryokan was situated on Lake Ashi, and every room had a killer view of Mt. Fuji. The staff was super helpful. The female onsen was really nice and had the same Fuji view. It was fun to dress in the yukata (cotton kimono).

AustriaMajority of instructions in the facilities were in Japanese, but I guess the important ones were translated. The TV had no English-speaking or international channels, or no access to Netflix etc.
View on lake and Fuji-san from room, very spacious rooms, Japanese-style room, breakfast and dinner in Japanese, it was a lot and a great variety of food, the (indoor and outdoor) onsen incl. sauna were great!

IsraelThe room felt like it could use a spruce up, breakfast was special but there was no option of Western food and it was a bit of a challenge for our taste buds. The staff was very friendly but didn't know English very well which was a problem. Getting to the hotel was extremely challenging, the instructions provided weren't clear and we missed the shuttle which meant waiting over 1 hour for the next one. The staff didn't communicate very well.
The hotel is a Ryokan, making it a unique and special experience. Dinner was an amazing experience, wearing our kimonos and enjoying local cuisine. The view from the room is breathtaking and truly special.
