Tokyo, Japan

We decided the two most important things for our first hotel in Japan was that it be in an incredibly convenient location, and that the view should shout "You are in Tokyo!". This was simply because after flying from the UK we knew we'd be spending a fair amount of time in the room getting over our jet lag. Hotel Metropolitan exceeded our expectations in both regards and we're considering staying on our final night when we loop back to Tokyo at the end of our trip. The staff is fantastic and friendly; location unbelievably convenient, but the views steal the show. It's not the cheapest but it is worth it if you can do it.

The rooms were very comfortable- very large size even with all the luggage from a long haul flight and the bed was amazing. Had a super night’s rest. The on-site onsen was also very comfortable with an outdoor and indoor area. The staff were really friendly even though we fussed around with our luggage a few times.

It would be nice — if the room has already been vacated — to allow early check-in at no extra charge ( each hour earlier than 3pm costs extra). This led to guests dropping their luggage at the hotel which filled up the lobby and made it look a bit untidy.

The location was convenient and quiet, you could hear the stream of water. It was vibrant and full of like-minded backpackers looking after themselves and facilities which stayed clean throughout the stay. The outdoor onsen of the hostel was delightful.

Outdoor batch needs more attention, there were quite a few hairs floating around and we were the first ones to use it after check-in. The tatami mats were too think and pillow too thick. Didn’t have a restful sleep unfortunately

It was right across from the bus stop and was really well taken care of. The private rooms upstairs are minimal, clean and so peaceful. The host was very kind and made an excellent dinner and breakfast even offering us a taste of sake for free.

Some free coffee and tea would have been nice since there was a kitchen area and kettle.

Clean, quiet and good price for what you get. Staff accommodated my last min request for 2 hour early check in after I was travelling 22 hours and was exhausted. 10 min walk to nearest station but it is safe area to walk even at night.

The price for the room was 5000 yen, what is completely ok. But we had also a small dog. For the dog, we had to pay 10.000 yen in addition. Than means, we had to pay the triple price! We understand that a pet costs extra, but this fee is impudent. For 15.000 yen we rented a whole appartment in the center of osaka.
