Wi-Fi was very slow. I don’t speak Japanese so wanted to watch some shows on laptop at the end of the day but that was damn near impossible with the WiFi. There was a building next door under construction. I had one day during my stay when I had no plans during the day and just wanted to relax in the room/onsen. All I heard all day was a loud jackhammer.

Great property. Really amazing staff and very clean. 11 course Wagyu meal was absolutely fantastic as was the breakfast every day.

Bit small size of rooms and no public bath.. location wise bit so so with public transportation bit expensive

Hotel facility was amazing, outdoor bathtub was very good. Clean and new hotel, but interior was designed traditional japanese style so liked it so much. They have all goods from hotel, which also in good quality.

It's an expensive place to stay, but to be honest, I think the price is worth it for what you get.

This place was AMAZING!!!! Totally worth the price. The private bath is super awesome and the traditional breakfast was delicious. We got engaged here and the staff made us a beautiful card to celebrate! It was so fun to get to know Yuka-san and the rest of the staff.

It was a bit removed from other parts of the city by foot. It took some initial navigation to get used to transportation to and from the bus station, but figured it out.

The breakfast was great and authentic. Definitely just enough and not too much food.

The only I would recommend to those contemplating this Ryokan, if you or your travel companion have difficulty with stairs-keep in mind that the sleeping room is located upstairs and is very narrow.

The location was away from major attractions and town, but I liked the quiet location. It was close to public bus transit, and a few blocks walk to nearby train station. The staff was excellent, provided wonderful experiences for us and made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. The room was beautiful, clean and the bathroom-onsen combo was Ahhmazing. Overall-loved this Ryokan-will definitely recommend!

    nothing. This was fantastic.

This was by far the best stay that we have ever had. The service was exceptional and personal. We were celebrating an anniversary and a birthday and they left us a beautiful note and flower pedals on the bed. The next day they gave us a personal letter and a map of the city with destinations and historical photos. It was all personalized. I think the hotel staff stayed late to make this for us. Then at breakfast we had a blast with the traditional Japanese meal. They showered us with more cards and gifts and made us feel like royalty. This was an amazing experience.

I could not find my room key card. They charged me 2000 yen for it. Given I paid 950 euros for one night, I thought its utterly stupid and disrespectful to charge 15 euros for a key card. Total lack of judgement.

    New, clean, comfortable.

First, I love everything about this hotel! The food- atmosphere, sleek decor, heartwarming staff, ease of access to all amenities. Atmosphere: outside of the hotel appears small, but as you pass the lobby- there's a makeshift traditional Kyoto street, which is perfect for pictures. If you did not bring your own cameras, do not worry. Staff will provide a photo ticket and will take the photos for you. Food: Tea treats upon arrival are delicious. The 10 course wagyu beef dinner was absolutely amazing! Experienced a new way of tasting wagyu beef for the first time. The Japanese breakfast is also delicious and convenient. If you get hungry at night, there are snacks in the lounge, an egg sando you can receive from the staff, and/or a convenience store (two minute walk). Lots of drinks in room beer, yuzu soda water, bottled water, traditional tea kit. Sleek decor: The place feels newly renovated, and nothing feels outdated, which is a huge relief. Heartwarming staff: A huge thank you to Hikaru O. for being so patient with me. (It was my first time coming to Japan and staying in Kyoto, and I was very socially anxious on the phone when booking my reservation. One day, I will become more fluent in Japanese, and I will overcome my social anxiety) Ease of access to amenities: kimono rental, other great sightseeing spots, etc

The stairs up and down. The plunge pool was too small for 2 persons. The dinner meal was creative with 10 courses but 9 of them centered around wagyu beef, which was way too much beef. Didn't like eating raw beef sashimi in 2 of the courses. Liked to see more fresh local fish, seafood, and or vegetables.

Staff enthusiasm and professionalism. Clean and modern room, but the stairs up and down for toilet, shower and plunge tub was a bit too much for people in their golden years. The drinks in the mini fridge as complimentary was nice; and the late after dinner snack of egg sandwich was very good.

It is a bit far from the centre and the room are really small. There are two floors but the bottom one, where the bed is, is really small. No place to put the clothes away.

The look of the alley leading to the rooms really felt as if it was an old town. The people working at the hotel were all very ! nice and welcoming. Special thank you to the lady who dispatched a gift box to my bedroom to help me getting over the cold I had ! I also took advantage of my private outside bath !

It was a bit of a walk from Kyoto Station and a little hard to find but once you get your bearings, it’s fine.

The property is beautiful. It gives off old-style Kyoto vibes. The dwelling’s are very posh and it’s awesome that you have a private onsen in your townhome. Special shout out to Eri! She was so warm and welcoming. She went above and beyond and wrote us a guide of her favorite places in Osaka (where she lives) as we were visiting that city next.
