Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaYes it's alittle dated but its part of its charm.
Amazing Rokyan, we loved our experience so much. We travelled as a family and were treated so well. Service is fantastic what seems to be a family run hotel. Dinner was fantastic, served in our room and breakfast in the dining room. Kids meals available if you book ahead of time. Getting into town was no issue as you just go the information booth and get them to call the hotel to pick you up. My daughter had a swim in the beach out the front, which was lovely. Deer everywhere. Beds on the floor were comfortable. Loved it. Book it :)

CanadaNothing comes to mind.
Nice hotel located slightly away from the main part of town. They run a convenient shuttle bus to and from the ferry port to make trips on and off the island, as well as to the main attractions more convenient. Food was delicious and they were happy to accommodate dietary restrictions, including one travel with celiac disease. The staff really went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable. They have some cozy hammocks on a porch looking out over the sea where you can have a relaxing coffee in the morning.

AustraliaWe loved our stay at Miyajima Seaside Hotel - it exceeded our expections! - we spent the day walking and exploring the island and chose an overnight stay at the hotel as it offered a traditional Japanese ryokan experience. The room was clean and immaculate, furnished with tatami mats, traditional dining table and chairs, plus two armchairs to enjoy the view and relax - the room was light and airy and had a fantastic view of the beach and the bay. The traditional Japanese evening meal was served in our room - thank you for the excellent explanation of the meal, including the professional, friendly and helpful assistance during both dinner and breakfast service. We loved the food that was served in the hotel - it was beautifully presented, was delicious and was a real treat for us! A big thankyou to all the staff at Miyajima Seaside Hotel for helping to make our stay so enjoyable - a hotel is only as good as the people that work in it!

United StatesIt was a really lovely experience. Not only were aesthetics beautiful, but how kind your staff was to us. Your front desk person may not realize how much stress he relieved by suggesting train travel timeline to our next destination. It was a very early departure and your shuttle driver was ready to go. Communications leading up to our arrival made us feel the care being placed in preparation for our stay. Thank you, we wish we had additional days to stay. We hope to return another time. Thank you .

United StatesThis was a very unique part of our Japan trip and I am so glad we stayed here. The hospitality was exceptional. I loved all the ways this was a traditional ryokan experience including leaving our shoes at the front, wearing the Koyuki robe, using the onsen, and the incredible dinner. This hotel is not close to the center of town but they have a free shuttle which made it easy to come and go. A very special place!

United StatesTowels were small. Could have used an extra pillow. And being 77 years old it is hard for my wife and I to get up off the floor. Not the resorts fault.
Has the feel of a Japanese Ryokan in a hotel. The food was very traditional and the service excellent.

We realy enjoyed being in a tradition Japanese hotel for the first time. We had half board. Both breakfast and dinner were very good and interesting. Though a little out of town, it was good to be away from the crowd. Hotel provided a good shuttle bus service from ferry and town centre.

United StatesThis was one of our favorite stays in Japan over our 6-week trip in Spring 2024! First off, Miyajima Island is incredible! We both love it and will definitely be back. If you're thinking about staying on Miyajima Island, just DO IT! We booked a seaside room and it was very nice. The kaiseki dinner and breakfast is a staple part when staying at a ryokan. Make sure you partake, since its already included in the cost of your stay! Staff was so accommodating, and even sent the shuttle to come pick up our luggage from the ferry terminal info center so we could explore the island hands-free! Our luggage was kindly placed in our room when we arrived after check-in. The info center was able to call the shuttle for us and the driver dropped us off at a covered path to the ferry terminal during the downpouring rain when we left the island. 100% recommend Miyajima Seaside Hotel for at least 1 night, but you'll want to stay for longer!

BrazilNothing, everything was just perfect.
This place is a must stay if you are spending the night in the magical Miyajima Island. It's a traditional japanese inn with everything you need and more, it's a short walk from the ferry station and far from the crowds, but the hotel also provides a shuttle bus for guests that is super covenient. The room was spacious and comfortable, with a very peaceful view of the sea and the cute deers, and with futon beds that were really comfortable. The food was really good, both dinner and breakfast. I highly recommend to get these meals, not only for the whole experience but also for the convenience since the places in the city closes very early. The hotel also have an onsen, for women and men, ping pong table, hammock and a souvenir shop. Also I cannot forget to mention about the amazing and kind staff, from the reception to the drivers that took us to the city thank you so much for everything. We wished we have stayed one more day to enjoy more this place.

United KingdomWe are pescatarian and were well accommodated. We would perhaps just warn others that if you have more western tastes, this is a full immersion experience, and the food reflects this in the set menu. There was a small port nearby which seemed to be dumping fish at points during the evening - meaning there was a strong smell of fish from our balcony, but only a small issue.
The hotel is in the traditional Japanese style and we loved experiencing this. It’s also in a lovely location, with a deer park close by and the sea right in front - with beautiful views from your balcony. The service is fantastic - all of the staff are so kind and really take care of you in the traditional way - including providing slippers and yukatas. The onsen is great. It’s a simple and small public bath but does exactly what you need it to after a long day of sightseeing. We hugely enjoyed the dinner in our room as well as breakfast, watching the deer walk past.

Everywhere was so clean and the staff were so kind and friendly and spoke very good English. The typical Japanese food may not be to everyone’s liking but I tried everything, it’s fresh and beautifully presented. This was a unique experience and one I’m glad I’ve tried. They have a free shuttle bus which is brilliant. They even brought our luggage to the ferry port so we didn’t have to lug it around while we did some last minute sightseeing before departing the island. Amazing experience!
