Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaSoundproofing not great but it’s a traditional style house. Guests need to be respectful of one another.
A cute, quiet and roomy place - with an absolutely wonderful helpful and friendly owner! The shared bath was very clean, and having a full shared lounge and kitchen area was great! An easy drive up the road to the historic part of Nikko and a great supermarket nearby for food.

IsraelThe location was a bit out of the way, and on a dark and cold night, it was a bit of an adventure to go to the nearby seven eleven or restaurants.
We loved both Hiro and his number one employee, Marie-chan Hiro's Shih-tzu! Hiro was very nice and accommodating. He drove us to and from the station, helped set up the bath, and even helped us reserve a place at the nearby reservation only Izakaya. He was always smiling and was very charming and happy to talk with us. The best thing about the place, as far as I'm concerned, is Hiro's special assistant Marie-chan! She was both adorable and cuddly and very very affectionate! She made every car ride a joyful experience 🥰

GreeceHiro is a fantastic host, along with Marie, his lovely dog. He was very helpful and gave us really good recommendations for food and he was kind enough to accommodate any of our needs. The whole experience of the traditional Japanese house, with the amazing onsen and the futons is really worth it. Another plus is that the house is isolated, which made our staying really peaceful and quiet. Matane!

AustriaEverything was exceptional. Hiro is the best host ever - funny and witty and super lovely to talk to. He not only picked us up/dropped us off on arrival and departure, he gave us lifts every day morning&evening and even dropped us off at his favourite ramen place close by (can recommend!). His side-kick Marie (little shih-tzu) is a d o r a b l e! The tatami mats/futon beds where super comfortable and the place is quiet and serene and perfect to explore and relax. We‘d love to come back!

This place is wonderful. The house is a typical japanese home, with your private room with a futon that you can prepare by yourself. There are also a shared kitchen and living room but especially there is a little but very cute onsen where you can relax after your trip in the Nikko area. Hiro, the host, is a very kind man that is super friendly and available for all your needs. He come to the train station to pick us the day of our arrival and he has accompanied us the next monday on time for our train. I really recommend this place, it is a real oasi of quite inside Japan.

Hiro-san makes you feel welcome in his lovely home. The place was clean, quiet, comfortable and surrounded by nature, with in front of the house 300-year old trees. Hiro picks you up and drops you off at a nearby train station. I was in need of a new charger and he drove me to a shop and helped me get a new one. He’s really the nicest person! Highly recommend staying at COZY inn!

SlovakiaIt was a wonderful experience, coming to Mr. Hiro's house. The accommodation was clean, beautiful, traditional, the conversation with the owner was very pleasant. I slept wonderfully there. I will always return to this place in my thoughts. It was one of the highlights of our trip to Japan. And as a bonus, there is excellent and tasty drinking water. If you are thinking about where to stay in Japan, this is the right choice. Just don't make the same mistake I did. We were only for one night. We have to come back here for at least 3 nights.
