It is so overcosted. I eally understand that is an unique experience, but I think the cost is not justified at all...

The experience is the best thing, definitely. If you want to live the full Japanse experience, you should definitely book a night in Koyasan. It was amazing to expend the night in a room inside the temple, with the classical clothes, food and so on. The morning pray was also a good experience to enjoy.

Just feedback. We would have loved the fire ceremony explained more as there was lengthy dialogue in Japanese about it but none in English. It started before we were invited to move closer.

Our beautiful room. Saizen is across the road from major sightseeing. All the facilities were beautiful and well explained. Wonderful staff. Fire ceremony was fabulous.

Delicious food, friendly, attentive hosts and devoted monks. Clean, comfiest Japanese style room I have ever been in. Lovely views and great location despite it being in the middle of nowhere! Would come again, just wish I booked for two nights! It also snowed briefly whilst there to add to the already amazing experience. There were lots of optional activities like meditation and calligraphy.

The room couldn’t be locked. It was not a big problem for us - we knew it is a safe place. but I understand it could be uncomfortable.

Location is right next to the main park Very quiet and beautiful Food is just amazing!

Nothing. We loved our stay so much.

Everything from the check in process to the stay. The staff were extremely helpful, and the lodgings were just as beautiful as others in the area! The bedding was exactly the same as other shukubos, and the bonus kotatsu set up was so wonderful on a cold and rainy day. Travellers not used to the custom of a Japanese bath house (communal bathing in a gendered, open room) may feel turned off, but we had absolutely no problems keeping it simple and immersing ourselves in the culture.

We had a wonderful stay. The staff were very kind and professional. We recognized that the whole team, whether front or back, worked very hard to ensure all the guests have comfortable stay. We are grateful for their excellent services. We will definitely choose Saizenin as our choice of accomodation when we're in town.

It was a very authentic stay and beautiful place. The staff were very polite and helpful. The food was plentiful, unique and very tasty. There was parking provided to the side of the accommodation and slippers and umbrellas were kindly provided. The temple was opposite the famous Konpon Daito and most places were in walking distance.

It was a very special stay at Saizen-in. Location was amazing, located near some of the main temples of Koyasan. We participated in the afternoon meditation and morning prayers, which was an experience of its own. Food was exquisite, all vegetarian and very tastful.

Very comfortable inn inside a nice temple
    • Leisure trip
    • Family with young children
    • Japanese-Style Deluxe Room with Private Bath and Toilet
    • Stayed 2 nights

    - The public bath pool had too much chlorine in my opinion. I like to use public baths but I only used it once due to this reason. - I went with my vegetarian brother. One of the small plates in a dinner came with fish. It wasn’t a big deal because we swap the fish for other meal (I am not vegetarian). If it wasn’t a fish then you can tell me and I can update this review but if it was fish, then it would be helpful to mention that in the description. In any case, it was just two small pieces so no big deal.

    - We had dinner and breakfast in the inn. They were really delicious and the dinner was really big. I really enjoyed it. - The location is nice. Not too close to the city entry but not far enough (by the way, the town is small so is very difficult to be far from it). - The staff is really friendly and helpful. - We had a room with a private bath and toilet. The room is big enough and very comfortable. - The praying ceremony was really nice to see. If you are respectful and like to learn from other cultures, is a nice experience.
