Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesLoved the location in the woods, the high lodge ceilings, the breakfasts with freshly-baked bread and good coffee and teas, the public spaces, the hot tub, being able to ride their old mountain bikes around town. Koki gave us a ride to and from the train station, plus guidance on where to hike. Koki is a good cook (pasta for dinner) and was able to accommodate my husband’s vegan diet. He was very nice to us.

ChinaThis truly is a fantastic and cozy forest cabin. The entire cabin has a two-story structure above the ground. The interior is very large and spacious, with a generously sized common area where you can find almost everything you could think of, including laundry and drying facilities which are a significant plus. The cabin's indoor space is ample and adequate. I believe even if you don't ski, you could easily spend an entire day here. All the structures inside have been carefully designed by the owners, Neomi and Koki, and are very eco-friendly. After a day of skiing or outdoor activities, you can also book a free session to enjoy the "BIG BATH," a very special private bath experience. The location is very close to the GoRyu ski resort, within walking distance. Furthermore, Neomi kindly drove us to Happo-one on the days when the shuttle service was not available, which was truly great. Moreover, there's no need to worry about transportation between the station and the accommodation, as there's a pickup and drop-off service for check-in and checkout. The custom breakfast was fantastic; we really liked it and highly recommend it. I hope to have the chance to visit this beautiful cabin again in the future.

TaiwanIts very far from any shop or convenience store. So you have to have dinner either at the hostel or ski restaurant. (But the breakfast and dinner they offer was super nice!) And it's not really a ski-in/out hostel because first its not too friendly for snowboarders due to some flat slopes, second when the snow melts you can see the road in the middle of the way, and when it gets too dark its easy to get lost and I think its kinda dangerous because of the poor cellphone signal in the forest.
The owners were very nice and helpful. They pick us up from the bus station when we arrived, and drove us there when we were leaving. The room was nice and big, and I love the 24-hour onsen! The shuttle bus stop is just right in front of the hostel (but only 1 bus on 8:30 each day, what a pity) It takes about 10-15 minutes to walk to the ski resort though.

United KingdomSuggest dressing gowns are provide to go down to the big bath.
Koki was an excellent host and very attentive and helpful with our needs. Room was large warm and comfortable with a good view into the forest. Easy access to Goryu plaza ski lift with the bus stop just outside at 8:30. Possible to ski back to the property through the forest. Breakfast with lovely freshly baked bread, fruit, cereal and tea/coffee all you need for a great start to the day. Big bath after a days skiing was great. Cannot recommend highly enough.

AustraliaLoved everything. 😍
We absolutely loved everything about Il Bosco. Being so far away from home, this truly beautiful place felt just like home. Koki and Naomi were the most hospitable hosts, along with taking so much pride in providing a sustainable approach in their accommodation. Their renovations have decreased their carbon footprint by 70%. The rooms were beautiful and clean and large, and the public bath was very nice after a long day, along with a warm tea by the fire with plenty of books to read. Each morning, there was homemade hot fresh bread right out of the oven with homemade spreads. The choice to order also from the egg menu which was cooked to your liking. There was also fresh fruit and cereals to choose from. Dinner was served most nights at a very affordable price. You never walked away hungry. Very close to Goryu ski fields and many local restaurants. We were very sad to leave as Koki and Namoi made us feel right at home along with the other guests. We will be back in a heartbeat. Highly recommend!

AustraliaI think it would be great if there were bidets installed in toilets. But we don't have any other complaints
Naomi picked us up from Kamishiro station which was very helpful and also dropped us at the bus stop on our check-out day. The breakfast and dinner are great. Koki-san and Naomi-san are very friendly and happy to help us if we have any questions. There is a bus stop in front of the hotel that can drop us into Goryu ski resort. If you want to go to the other resorts, you need to take another bus.

AustraliaNothing against the property but worth mentioning: Getting around was harder than I thought. As I was travelling with a child, after skiing all day we were quite tired so we didnt venture out even into Hakuba as it would have been quite an effort to arrange. Taxis are difficult to get and we heard people say restaurants in Hakuba were booked out. Even getting to and from Iimori by bus (if you’re not confident to walk/skii) took about an hour even though it’s super close. In saying that, Koki did offer to drive us one day. Just something to be aware of, but still worth it to stay here I think.
Staying at Il Bosco was like staying with family. You immediately feel like you’re home. Koki and Naomi were lovely, and really helpful with anything you needed. We made lots of friends with the other guests too. The food Koki makes is absolutely delicious. Fresh bread every morning was delicious and more than satisfying. After a long day skiing it was nice to be able to go downstairs, take a big bath, then get into your track suit pants and have dinner and a red wine. Everything is clean and well organised. Koki and Naomi picked us up and dropped us back to the bus stop when we arrived/departed. Plus they dropped us down to the snow monkey tour. They also bought us free ice cream when they had friends over for dinner one night even though none of us guests had been bothered at all. Cannot fault Koki and Naomi for their work in running this place. They are really lovely and work so hard to keep everyone happy.

SingaporeReally nice and cozy place to stay. Koki is very nice and friendly and will always try to answer our queries. Also love their private bath after a day of snowboarding. Morning and evening shuttle bus between hakuba goryu ski resort and Il Bosco, makes the it easier to get to and back from ski resort (otherwise it will be a 15mins walk).

MalaysiaFirstly, consider this the warmest lodge you can find in hakuba during winter. The insulation is top notch. You will see an explanation on how they did it in the laundry room with words and images. Laundry, coffee, tea, biscotti, muffin, drinks available for you. Help yourself with that. You pay a small amount of money for using the dryer but the washing machine is free to use. Helps us alot while traveling n having fresh clothes to wear. Breakfast is basic with the best baguette I've ever tasted. Order in advance if you would like the hot breakfast which consist of different types of eggs. We dined out every night but spent 1 dinner here with a delicious homemade pasta. Mostly pasta dishes for dinner. Private onsen available and you can book it on the board hung to the wall. There are 2 living rooms for you to relax just outside the room and the other near the firewood. Very cosy, humble lodge. A bunker to your ski gears with space to store them. Access to the outside/ground floor conveniently after wearing and taking your gears at the bunker. Convenient location, gets a free shuttle after skiing in Hakuba Escal plaza. Eco friendly lodge. Sustainable living environment with a lifestyle of recycling, reuse and reduce. It shows in this place. Friendly and helpful host. A cosy and happy stay. We are grateful to have found this place
