Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomVery clean, lots of little extras, comfortable, everything you might possibly need without ever going outside. Complimentary bath salts, cosmetics, and snacks, 24h food and drink service and other facilities. Tram stop in front of the hotel. I was worried because some people mentioned cigarette smell and noise. It didn't smell at all and it was super quiet. Would happily come back again

AustraliaThere was nothing that we didn't like - the hotel is a little bit quirky with the elephant and dancing tree in the foyer but they added to its charm.
We stayed for 4 nights. The hotel offered excellent value for money. The room was large enough and the bathroom was amazing! We were offered a range of toiletries - everything we could possibly need and there was a table in front of the lift where we could choose further toiletries etc The staff were kind and offered us fresh towels every day. The hotel is very well located opposite the tram (Street car) and it was easy to get to the station or shopping centre.

United StatesOf the 10 hotels we stayed at during our trip to Japan, we had the greatest difficulty communicating with hotel staff at this hotel. We are English speaking, and the check-in process for this hotel was unclear. I had paid through booking.com, but at check-in they didn't ask for our name, nor could we really communicate as they only spoke Japanese. The rooms were quite dark, and it didn't seem possible to open the dark curtain blocking the window. The hallways were a little rundown looking and the hotel didn't seem very occupied.
The price was very low, and we were only passing through Okayama, so this option worked for us. However, I wasn't aware of the "love hotel" concept in Japan, and became a little apprehensive once I realized this was such a place. We were travelling with our family of 4, including 2 young adult children (18 and 20), so it was a little uncomfortable having my son and daughter rooming together at a "love hotel". The lobby was interesting, a bit over-the-top, with a moving elephant, singing tree, etc. Also, it was hard not to feel self-conscious about being at a "love hotel" running into other guests in the lobby.

AustraliaIf you are sensitive to lights, fragrances and sound, this may not suit you. It felt a little sensory overload from the moment you enter the foyer.
While the room was a decent size and clean, be mindful it is a love hotel. The staff were really friendly and helpful.

United KingdomIt’s a Love hotel and it’s not advertised as such anywhere. Also, it’s very loud as it’s on the main road
The room was spacious and had a big TV.

ArgentinaThe bathroom was not clean and there was a light on top of my head that could not be turned off, I had to cover it with towels, that did not help, I could not rest at all! Many things were unpleasant, but the main one was the surprising elefant in the entrance and the dancing tree, totally normal for love hotels in Japan, not my type of place to stay. There is misinformation and I can see I am not the only one finding out in the entrance what type of accomodation this was. I am totally disappointed at both, booking and the hotel. Totally misleading offer!
This is NOT a standard hotel, it is a LOVE HOTEL, it was totally unpleasant to find myself entering a love hotel as a solo female traveller, it was totally awkward.

Netherlandseverything was great
great design, super friendly staff, big room, very clean, large bathroom with a bathtub and a built-in tv in it 😅 (plus another display incorporated in the mirror to … not get bored while you … brush your teeth???) really great place, there was also a pool-table at the reception and a fun room at the 2nd floor with table tennis and a karaoke machine. 10-15 mins by bus to the train station; didn’t really have the time to check the neighbourhood, we only used it to camp during the night. all in all, great place!

Lovely, quirky hotel, and very comfortable. We had a decent sized room, with an internal bathtub that was long enough to stretch out in. The TV had netflix and youtube so I could finally get a dose of English language tv, and the hotel also had a table-tennis table, karaoke and pool, all free-of-charge to guests. And our hosts were lovely. There was nothing I didn't like about this hotel.

SwitzerlandWe booked this hotel through Booking because it had an 8 rating. We ended up in a love hotel without knowing it. We were allocated a smoking room which, after complaining, was rebooked into an ultra-small room. It was noisy in the room from the traffic and the music in the corridor. No hot water the second morning. When I checked out I complained but unfortunately the lady didn't understand English. My email to the hotel manager has not been answered to this day.
