Communication was difficult. The staff seemed to have memorized English spiels to introduce you to the hotel, but if you have a question, some staff would freeze and just stare back instead and say sorry. We knew language would be an issue and we did learn some Japanese, but there didn't seem to be any initiative to problem-solve like at other hotels across Japan (eg, using Google translate). Beyond this, when we encountered a legitimate problem that required assistance, we were told, "no English, sorry." We managed to figure things out on our own, but we were surprised by how stark the language barrier was here compared to other places we have stayed in Japan.

Decent, utilitarian hotel in Asahikawa. Parking is in the rear of the hotel, and the location was perfect for us. It's a good launchpad for hikes and farm explorations. Good breakfast.

Excellent location close to station but just outside main business area - most importantly it has openair carpark next to it making it ideal when travelling by car - the route to Adahidake is straight forward from the hotel.

Overall a really good place to stay, avoid rooms with a single 2 person bed

    • Double Room with Small Double Bed - Non-Smoking

The double (2 person) bed is too small honestly.

The hotel is located just a 4 minute walk away from the station exit, with a nearby coffee shop (that we absolutely loved btw). Rooms are clean, and they have good basics like vending machines and laundry available along with a breakfast place. View could be good too, but nothing too special if the room faces the main street. Overall loved our stay here.

Excellent location, 5 min on foot to the JR Asahikawa station. Daily free drinks were provided at the onsen lobby, which was great after enjoying the onsen facilities.

High quality business hotel, near to train, bus and shopping mall.

The hotel is in a quiet backstreet area and when I stayed there in winter it was difficult to carry luggage through the snow and slush. Maybe get a taxi - it's not too far and not too expensive. The hotel is near a hospital and quite often I heard ambulance sirens, which was a bit disconcerting until I realised what the sirens were for!

I enjoyed my stay at Hotel WBF Grande Asahikawa and would stay again. I arrived before check-in time. The reception staff kept my luggage and I went out to explore Asahikawa. When I returned I was told that my luggage was already in my room. Very good service! The room was well designed with room to open my luggage, a reasonable sized desk and comfortable bed. There were a good number of electrical sockets with USB charging sockets, including by the bed. There was a lounge available in the afternoon and evening with complementary sake and wine to taste. There is an onsen on the 2nd floor free for guests. There is a jacuzzi type whirlpool pool and a pool that seems to use ultrasound! The hotel is only about 5 or 10 minutes walk from JR train station, the bus terminal and AEON shopping mall. There is a big play area for children in the reception area, so good for families waiting to check-in.

Great location clean and quiet. Hokaido resort liner to the door. Aeon mall and jr rail is only a block away. The short cut out the back door makes it very close. Onsen is very good and free for hotel guests, although it is not natural spring it is so clean and many different pools to use. Sauna is really hot and a cold pool is really cold. Highly recommend.

Onsen didn’t allow tattoos. They provide too many changes of clothes and extra toothbrushes etc. I hope they’re not just thrown away.

Good location. Great onsen facility (no tattoos). Affordable car parking for guests as well. Staff were helpful with any requests including getting mail delivered to us.

Access by foot wasn't that easy due to the car-centric nature of the city. It would have been better if we could enter the hotel from more than one side.

One of the closest hotels to the station. Room was nice. There is a 7-11 convenience store nearby.
