Staying at Ski-kan has been the best experience for me of all my various stays in Japan because of the landlady, Ms Takako! She was super helpful, went out of her way multiple times to help me get around - made me feel like i was staying with a relative instead of renting a place. Oh, and she kept surprising me with snacks which were so beautiful and delicious that I thought they were bought off some artisanal stores, until she told me that they're made by her! I will certainly book any lodging that is run by her without hesitation. She made my visit to Hakuba very memorable! Thank you, Ms Takako!

Nice ryokan with onsen. Comfortable, quiet and spacious corner room. Parking available. Friendly owner who chat with us and share place for dinner. Cold tea and snacks during check in, which was perfect after our hike.

The property is kept in great condition, and the host was extremely enjoyable and went over the top with service. Hakuba Ski-kan will be my top choice next return visit.

I was bothered by a mosquito during the night but it might be due to the hot weather at this time of summer.

It’s near the Happo bus terminal and just 12 minutes walk to the Happo gondola. The staff are very helpful and knowledgeable. They advised great restaurants with reasonable prices. What impressed me most was that their indoor hot springs. They are well maintained with good ventilation and quality spring water. It saved me time and money to try nearby onsen. Also, there is a Lawson convenience store in walking distance.

The staff is super friendly and helpful! They even helped to get me a 20% discount on ski gear! Maruyama-San was an amazing hostess and she really helped to make me feel comfortable in Japan during my first ever visit!

Excellent stay at Hakuba Ski-Kan. Great location just minutes away from the Happo Bus terminal and Lawson grocery store. Japanese style room was a cool experience. Worth noting that guests at the Ski-Kan get a 20% discount on gear rental at Woody's right next door.

My favourite stay in Japan! The owners are lovely, accommodating and really make you feel at home! Thank you :) Highlights; - Owners are the best! They helped us organise food, transport, ski passes, and a missing wallet aha! - Location is super convenient right next to happo bus terminal - easy to get to and from the different resorts, close to food and rentals - Traditional style Ryokan accommodation was such a delight and the onsen was perfect after a day on snow I will absolutely be returning here :) Thanks so much for having us!!!

Please be aware that showers are communal. There is a female and male bathing room with shared showers and Onsen. This is a traditional Japanese experience but may be not for everyone.

Felt like a good authentic Japanese experience. The lady who runs the place is so helpful and accommodating. She even provides freshly made Japanese snacks/treats on your return from the slopes!

The location is amazing and right in town. The hosts are truely amazing and super wonderful. They’ll go completely out of their own way to help assist you and have a laugh doing so as well. Honestly I absolutely loved staying here and would do so again.

I'm not super used to sleeping on a Japanese futon so keep that in mind if you're used to a thicker mattress, but the rooms are very comfortable.

Hosts are just utterly incredible and welcoming. They were eager to look out for us and make sure we knew where to go/what to do and even offered lifts for guests. The rooms and lounge are very comfortable and the communal bathroom and onsen are very clean.

This is a lovely, friendly and unique type of Ryokan accommodation in Hakuba. A family fun business (now in its third generation) the local knowledge and assistance was very helpful. If you want to stay in Japan and experience some authentic Japanese living, this is the perfect place. Very clean. Great onsen on sight.

The building was lovely - a traditional ryokan. The owner was so kind, preparing snacks at the end of a day on the slopes and making bookings for local restaurants. The location is excellent, being extremely close to the Happo One shuttle bus and walking distance to many restaurants. The onsen was also lovely at the end of the day :)

Takakako is a very caring and attentive host - she keeps Ski-Kan spotlessly clean and is always willing to help with anything you need. I am gluten-free and she worked hard to find the right local restaurants for us - and the ones she booked for us were fabulous! As a bonus, her son Kuni is often available to drop you off to the restaurant. Takakako saved us by asking a carefully worded questions about our travel - helping us to find out that we had made a mistake about the pick-up location - whew!
