Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):

JapanThe sink on the 2nd floor was kinda dirty. And the parking was a little bit far it would be nice if it were near the guesthouse.
We like that it's close to the Shirahama beach. The staff was also nice. The price was just right. The bathroom is large and has a bathtub too.

JapanObviously as a budget accommodation, there were some things left to be desired. In the shared living area, there wasn't really any place to sit down. There is a basic shared kitchenette with an urn and microwave and such, as well as some cups, but no cutlery provided - so if you bring any food make sure to bring your own or get some from a conbini. The sink in the shared space, which doubled as a kitchen and bathroom sink, was a little grotty. Having a place to put your toiletries and sit down for a meal would make a world of difference, I think!
Location is perfect - just a short walk to the main Shirahama beach, and basically opposite Shirahama shrine, which is absolutely stunning. Plus it was very close to two bus stations that take you to Shimoda city and other nearby areas. The room was comfortable and the aircon worked really well, which we were grateful for in the July heat. The futons were double-layered and comfy. The room came with a TV. There was plenty of space to store our luggage. We didn't go in while we were there, but the downstairs bar looked really cute. They provided shampoo and conditioner in the bathroom and changed our towels and amenities for us daily, which was a nice touch. The shared toilets were nice and clean. And it was really affordable!

It is 1-2 minutes walk to the Shirahama beach. Hostess is very welcoming, though she doesn’t speak much English she is trying her best to help. I arrived very early and they allowed me to stay inside. Tatami room has a bit of a traditional ambiance. It is a clean place. Water spray at the entrance to wash all the sand off

Hosts were really nice. They enjoyed playing with our kids, shared toys and even their daughters tried to play with us. Location is really convenient. Not the closest but there is a 1000JPY/day parking and it is 600m from the beach where parkings are 2000JPY/day

JapanIt was very difficult to sleep - its an old Japanese house and the walls were very thin, so could hear neighbours every move. Luckily neighbours were fine, but this is located on the main road with traffic continuing into the middle of the night and early morning (indeed I and next room got woken up at 03.30 AM by passing motorbike). Also the aircon is a strange type - the compressor was located inside the room (instead of outside the building as normal) meaning the aircon was very noisy - too noisy to sleep as the compressor kicked in every 15 minutes with very loud and surprising noise. In the end turned air con off, despite around 30 degrees temperature. I got almost no sleep.

JapanI just wish they add more shower rooms/bathrooms and toilets. The number of these facilities are a bit lacking given the number of guests that needs to use these at a time.
The location was excellent, very accessible and there are a lot of nearby establishments where we were able to go for food and other needs.
