Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

PortugalReally expensive! I end here because I get stuck in Kofu. Noisy, from your room you can ear the people at bar just downstairs. The bathroom is a cabin who is in the room. So you can hear everyone using it anytime.
The little common space is a bit messy but comfy. And you can find the necessary. The staff seem very nice.

JapanI was a little scared because there are no handrails on the stairs.
I arrived outside check-in hours, so I only spoke to the staff on the phone. I learned how to do self check-in and how to get the key. Other people were sleeping in my place, so I had no choice but to use the upper bunk. I had a hard time getting down because the ladder was at a right angle. However, the people in the same room seemed to go to the mountains, and when I woke up, they were gone. I didn't see anyone during my stay. It was a strange hotel. Thanks to you, I could use the room as much as I wanted.

CanadaIt's comfortable enough to stay one night but don't expect much.
I really wanted to like this place. The photos made it look fun, lively and social. I was surprised when I walked in that there was no one to greet us. It was just an iPad check in and you get the key from a box. In the photos, it looked like there was an active bar to socialize and meet people but the lights were off and it was being used as a storage area. It was just a mess. The kitchen and shared space looked sad and the further I went into the guest house and up to my room, I honestly felt like I was paying a lot of money to feel like a squatter. At least we had our one private washroom and the room itself was okay. I had booked the room for 2 people but they only had one set of towels so I went downstairs to see how I could get in touch with staff. There was a landline with a phone number to call. They apologized and did bring the towels eventually but I just felt like this place was missing the mark on everything.

United KingdomThe fans in the room had quite a large build up of dust which wasn't very pleasing to view and was a little concerning to sleep with. It was also a shame that there was never any staff in the hotel despite it being advertised with a bar, the bar was completely closed and the desk never had any staff, all check-in/out is done through an ipad.
Being a solo traveller having a large room to myself was a real treat, the tatami flooring was very spacious for 1, but would be topped and tailed if 4 people stayed.

United States of AmericaIt was kind-of a weird vibe when I got there. No staff in the evening or morning when I was there. I didn't meet anyone else. Just music playing in the kitchen...it felt a bit weird. But nothing went wrong and they gave good directions on the check-in.
It is walking distance from the train station (about 10-15 minutes). Close to 7-11, places to eat. No one else had booked the dormitory so I had that all to myself! Comfortable.

JapanOne tiny Japanese "unit bathroom" is definitely not enough for 4 people. It was inconvenient even for 2 people.
The location was good. The room was clean. Anyways this place was value for money.

France- This place needs some serious CLEANING - The bathroom was disgusting, kitchen and common area have stains everywhere - The room was so dusty - Unlike every hostel I stayed at in Japan, you get to keep your shoes inside - The whole place smells like ashtray, thrash and sweat - By far the dirtiest hostel I stayed in Japan and arguably in the world.. and I stayed in hostels in 20+ countries
Cheap, in every sense

IsraelWhen I first arrived I thought the place is closed. The smell was not pleasant, everything is messy and fortunately no staff was around. I’m hoping that the owner of the place will return to operate the place in a serious and pleasant way for the traveler. The potential is definitely visible and it seems that before the covid-19 there was a good activity in the place.
The guesthouse is in a good location. I was just myself in the traditional tatami room and it was good. The room is small and not fitting for four strangers people. Very nice kid was carrying on the place.

GermanyI never wrote a review on booking but your guesthouse doesn’t make me feel good. I left the guesthouse at 3:30 and the door downstairs to the street was still open. The bathroom was really dirty, no body soap, no shampoo, also the common area and rooms where dirty. I tried to do not touch anything. The ‚bar’ looks like a messy storage room. Then the communication beforehand wasn’t any constructive. So never again! It looks like nobody is putting any effort in this place anymore. Trust the other bad reviews. It‘s true!
Bed sheets were fresh.

LatviaWould be nice to meet staff maybe... But it's their choice to work remotely. In any case, the remote system worked perfectly.
Very good value for money. Great location, not far from station and Maizuru Castle. Clean, nice room with big windows, cosy shared kitchen. Air conditioner worked perfectly. We didn't meet staff in person, but during our stay they arranged a nice opportunity for hotel guests to buy delicious Yamanashi peaches for a good price.

JapanThe A/C in room 201 does not work, and it got so hot that it was difficult to sleep. There is no fan either. Opening the window didn't help either as this was the middle of summer. There is no staff and no response to any of the questions I sent via booking.com. Not a problem in winter but in summer? It felt like hell in room 201.
You don't have to leave the room to shower and use toilet; a plus in the mornings as long as it's not full.

AustriaIt is not at all as it is shown in the pictures! DO NOT FALL! At some point it might have lloked like that, but looks more in an abandoned stated than anything. The check in is automated, never saw any personnel. Once you check in you get a physical key for your room. The bar was closed in a semi abammndoned state full of stuff, looked quite bad. The terrace is unusable, completely abandoned and fmwood floor broken. The dorms are rooms of 4 beds with the shared toilet inside the room, with a shower quite small that is not enough if many guests in the room and noisy. The first day I think I was completely alone in the hostel and felt really weird, really like sleeping in a semi abandoned place, never saw anyone and was alone in that room; if it wasn't because it was in Japan, I will for sure had search for another place to stay and would not have stayed at all there, too creepy. The second night some people came and was better, at least some life. If you really can avoid it do so, unless it's high season and there is people, then might be better. Hopefully the owners arrange again the bar/common areas and get back to what photos claim.
It was cheap. But read the cons!
