Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

SingaporeA bit far away from Karuisawa.
Nearby many good restaurants. Walking distance there is a Second Street mall that sells second hand goods and is a treasure to find good branded goods even new with fraction of cost .

JapanNot that I think of. Nothing to complain here. It was more than perfect.
Room was far better than what I expected, and so comfortable. Public bath and open space in the 8th floor are so useful as well. Friendly and kind staff. Great food. I would love to come back one day and also to recommend this hotel to others.

JapanParking was a bit of a distance but not a major issue.
I loved the onsen bath, cold plunge and sauna. It was very clean and modern. They also had free amenities like razors and so forth. I also appreciated the fact that they had free drinking water available in the bathing area. Staff was also very friendly and the hotel itself is new and well decorated.

ThailandThere is no parking lot for the hotel. Customers require to park their cars at the nearby paid parking lots. Even though it's free but it is a bit burden for customer to carry the luggage to the car park.
The room was great & the breakfast was awesome.

United StatesLovely new hotel with beautiful onsen facilities (a bonus!). The staff were extremely friendly and helpful when it came to recommendations for what to do in the area (we were visiting a friend from the states and spoke very limited Japanese). Don't miss the bartender and strawberry dessert on the top floor (plus the open air onsen)!

JapanWhile the rooms were basically comfortable, for some reason the window was really draughty, so the person nearest it felt a cold breeze all night. Nice that there's a public bath with a view, but it's rather small, so if there are more than a few people in the area, you are very close to them while walking and the showers kind of spray on each other. Also the floor is quite slippery. More than that though, the baths were SCALDING hot -- like it seemed almost like a mistake. The half of my body I managed to get in was bright red like a boiled lobster when I got out. Most importantly, maybe because it's new the staff could use a lot more experience around guests. Many of them seemed just afraid to smile or say hello. They also need to be able to handle problems more effectively. I was not given clear instructions or a map as to where to park, so ended up mistakenly parking in the public lot right in front of the hotel overnight. Only at checkout did they tell me I should have parked in the garage just beyond that. At check-in the front desk staff literally just said 'in the parking area over there' and gestured in the direction where both areas were. I was a little annoyed that at checkout they said they wouldn't pay for the parking and actually started arguing with me about what they told me and blamed me. I had to politely put my foot down and say that it didn't matter what they said they said, if they weren't able to give clear instructions or provide a map as to where to park they couldn't blame me for not understanding. They ended up only paying a portion of my parking because the lot I used by mistake was literally twice as expensive. I think a lot of people might not have been as sanguine about it.
It's a very new hotel, and right in front of the shinkansen station so super convenient. Very tastefully designed, and the rooms are super comfortable with some nice touches, like a big sink and mirror, wide shower, and toilet all separate. The breakfast was also worth it, and one of the best breakfast buffets I've had at this level of hotel in Japan. Great that they use fresh local produce, and you can really tell. Also the 8th floor lounge is a nice space to hang out outside your room.
