Everything about this place is excellent, from the well-equipped rooms with terrace, the beautiful garden, to the friendly staff and the free port transfer. Donousa may be a barefoot, relaxed kind of island, but the owners of this hotel run a tight ship. I can see why so many people come back year after year, and stay for weeks at a time.

Our stay at Makares was perfect. The owner Lukas met us at the port. The apartment was stylish and spacious with a well equipped kitchen. Best of all was the sea view looking across to Naxos. And the sunsets from the terrace were spectacular.

Great host (Loukas) - provided transport to and from the ferry, facilitated a quick check-in and gave us the island basics. Makares is just a short walk to the center of the village. Great seaview, clean - as advertised. Felt comfortable to spend a couple of days there.

There are far too many people on the island in August for the facilities to cope with. Wish we'd gone earlier in the year but that's August allover Europe. The Skopelities tours boat wasn't running due to the wind but that can't be helped. It's nature.

The place was in a great location and the rooms where well equipped and stylishly decorated, comfy bed, chairs and umbrella on the balcony. Loukas was helpful and attentive, always replies to messages. The staff were all very friendly and helpful and made sure your requirements were fulfilled. Spotlessly clean with a lovely garden with herbs and flowers. Beautiful bougainvillea. Great sunsets. Nice walks early morning Donousa is lovely it's well worth a visit.

We had a 4 night stay at Makares in September 2022. We wished it had been longer. Loukas is a great host and Makares offers everything you need for a very comfortable and relaxing vacation. Location is perfect. Very handy for access to everything. We hope to return.

Everything was perfect!

Makares apartments is located just a couple of minute’s walk from Stavros beach and the Chora. We really enjoyed our stay in our room which was very nice and clean, with a good sized terrace and fantastic view to the sea and the sunset! Mr Loukas, the owner, was very friendly and helpful. Overall our stay at Makares exceeded our expectations and we will definitely book again whenever we visit Donousa! Highly recommend it!

We loved staying here. It’s location is perfect for daytime exploring the island and eating out in the evening. The studio was fantastic, bright and clean with a good sitting out area. The bed was prefect, really comfortable. The overall atmosphere was chilled and relaxed. Everyone staying there appeared to be having a good time and were relaxed. A bit thanks to Loukas, firstly for the pick up and drop off, but mainly for taking the time to check that we were settling in. He seemed to go the extra mile.

From the moment you arrive, you feel the calmeness of this island. The same I can say for the studio I stayed in. It feels serene , due to the use of color and choose of furniture. The vieuw from the balcony is the cherry on the cake, and so are the sounds of the waves. Loukas is very hospitable and a very welcoming host. He tells you all you need to know about the island and the beautiful hikes you can make. The copple that cleans around the property is very kind, helpfull and the room is spotless. I will come back for sure!. I realy loved the 3 days I spend on the island of Donoussa and in Makares. Thank you Loukas and staff Kalo Xeimonas!

Considering the high standards of the accommodation and that there is a kitchen available it would be fair to expect some basic supplies provided (salt/pepper, coffee, etc.). Also, some of the utensils might need updating.

Location: Perfect. Walking distance from great beaches and the chora. Room: Spacious, clean, and well-maintained. Owner: Helpful, friendly and there to help if needed.
