Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomExcellent shower but my husband found it slippy so a non slip might be useful.
My husband and I are vegetarians, Wildes has a veg/vegan menu and were very happy to fulfil my request. The food was lovely, beautifully cooked and presented. Staff delightful. Location very nice, lovely walk from the front door into the countryside.

United KingdomI thought the other parts of breakfast; cereals, etc were far below comparable hotels. There was continental breakfast available to order, but almost every hotel I have stayed in have these elements on the buffet, and that was disappointing. I would have expected to see fresh fruits, compotes, yogurts, pastries and croissants on display. My room was in the old part of the hotel, with no internal access to reception, gym and the restaurant. Very comfy bed and decent bathroom, but no means to regulate temperature, lots of noise at 5.00am from room above.
Cooked elements of breakfast were fine.

United KingdomThe room needed refurbishing particularly in the window area. The shower flooded the bathroom. The location of the hotel is awkward unless you're driving as there are no local taxis and Uber rarely pick up there. We had to wait over an hour to get to our destination (and also on the return journey) for an evening wedding reception, although the venue was only a ten minute drive. This spoilt our evening.
The communal areas are all beautiful and the staff were friendly and helpful. The orangery is a lovely place to eat and the robot waiters are fun. The cooked breakfast is excellent as is the food in the orangery. The bedding is great quality and the shower was powerful. The room was quiet.

United KingdomAsked for a small bread roll during the wedding breakfast for my 8 month old grandson and the chef refused saying no extras. A bit petty considering the amount of money that was spent by the wedding party.

United KingdomOur room was in the "traditional" side and was outdated and felt like we were completely isolated from the rest of our group. Also wasn't keen that there was a £10 charge to use the gym as a guest.
Nice hotel in the new side, food was good and entertainment was pretty good too.

United KingdomOur room (suite?) we had booked seemed rather cool on our arrival. Took ages for the heating to take effect. The room was disappointingly bland and bare. There were no pictures, no chairs, only one tiny footstool which couldn't be used at the dressing table mirror - it was too low to use! Plus, a rather hideous sponge-rubbery covered sofa/spare bed - are there no cushions to soften it and make it more comfortable or at least usable? The room lighting was too harsh and 'cold'. Bedside lights with glass shades? what is the point? Why use those horrible 'fashionable' clear lightbulbs? The room lighting should be softly lit and subdued - we didn't like it at all! Some restaurant staff looked disinterested in their tasks. Whilst I was the only one waiting to be served at the bar, one gent in a suit working on the till just seemed to ignore me and continued with his task whilst another acted as though it was his first shift and simply hadn't a clue. He then served another couple who arrived and he was asking colleagues questions re: products etc. After waiting for what seemed like 10 minutes, he finally served our hot drinks to our table My partner's coffee was spilt over into the saucer. There was no offer to clean, clear or even replace it. Breakfast time was disappointing. We arrived about 9:40am. It was busy but tables were available yet we and other couples had to queue. We were disappointed with the breakfast buffet. We had to go down a service corridor to where it was set up in another room and return to the dining area with breakfasts on tea plates! The buffet set up itself looked a bit amateurishly temporary and put together to be honest. Half of the hot food containers were empty - no eggs or tomatoes only baked beans black pudding, a couple of pale looking bacon rashers and three rather uninviting sausages. We even had to ask a member of staff for the missing items.
The welcome we received at Reception was warm and friendly. The venue looks like it is well-managed and looked after. My partner was unwell in the restaurant and the 'senior' staff were exceptional in their care and attention and subsequent follow-up with us Our meal was well-presented and tasty. The bed was firm and comfortable
